Something is wrong when the biggest job in New York is home care: 650,000 people. Family members are getting paid for checkbooks, groceries, and rides to the doctor. CMS has no way to know if it happened. Medicaid is paying for fraud as much as medicine.

In 33 months more than half of federal spending goes to Americans 65 and older. We have about the same number of 18 year olds as 20 years ago and twice as many 65 year olds. The math is going to win this argument whether Washington admits it or not.

In about six and a half years the Social Security trust fund hits zero. It was never a vault. It is a pay-as-you-go promise with fewer workers under it every year. Pretending that math is optional is how you end up cutting the very seniors you claim to protect.

Democrats love to argue that illegal immigrants pay into Social Security. Yes, some pay with fake Social Security numbers. That is a little money. But read the Social Security actuary report. The part they leave out is the suppression of wages from millions crossing the border during the Biden years. Working-class Americans are competing with that labor now. That was the great cruelty.

Politicians scream at each other over scraps while Medicare Advantage spits out $84B in overpayments in a single year. That’s almost $1T in misaligned incentives we could fix in one reconciliation bill that pays for real health, not for coding seniors as sicker.

Our gross national debt passed $35 trillion on Monday. The math isn’t partisan. It’s not Republican, nor is it Democrat. Doing the math is MORAL. We need to be willing to have hard conversations to save future generations. And it starts by putting batteries in the calculator.

My little Matthew is 3. This country needs 104% of his lifetime earnings just to cover promises Washington already made. In less than 6.5 years, the Social Security trust fund is empty. In less than 6.5 years, the Medicare trust fund is empty. We will double poverty of seniors. That is the morality of this place now.

An average couple retiring today gets about a $76,000 bonus from Social Security. That is a horrible return. Years ago workers could have put 15% into a market sidecar and let it grow. Democrats killed it. They are responsible for the wave of senior poverty that is coming.
