Downtown LA office buildings are over 40% vacant. Class A office buildings in the downtown Toronto financial district are 90% full. Don’t blame COVID or back-to-work rules for Downtown LA’s decline. Blame our elected officials. They drive through Downtown LA every day to get to City Hall and see the crime, blight, and encampments. A tough environment to work in. Are they blind or incompetent?

I was asked if I’ll be making an endorsement in the LA Mayor’s race. My answer? I’m extremely concerned about any candidate making public statements about firing a Chief of Police and appointing George Gascón. We need to know where each candidate stands on every issue.

I practice what I preach! We have goats clearing the brush at our new Miramar Lake Golf and Racquet Club at Sherwood. Its a simple and fun way to manage brush and reduce fire risk. Come on, Mayor Bass, “candidate” Ramon and City Councilmembers - do the same for LA! And its fun for the whole family. A win-win for everyone!

My love for the City of Los Angeles will always transcend politics.

MacArthur Park has become an open-air drug market in the middle of a neighborhood where families live and children play. Federal agents seized millions in fentanyl while local leadership looked the other way. Councilwoman Councilmember Eunisses Hernandez has spent more time defending the status quo than fixing it. If she can’t protect the people living there, she should step aside. Lead, follow, or get out of the way.

Despite the heartbreak and frustration, I know this: we will rebuild our city. Together, we will support those who have lost so much, stand by our first responders, and emerge stronger. In times of great adversity, Angelenos always rise to the occasion—and this time will be no different. Entire neighborhoods have been wiped out, and countless Angelenos have lost their homes, businesses, and so much more. My heart breaks for all who are suffering, and I am profoundly grateful to our brave first responders. They are true heroes. At the same time, there’s undeniable frustration over reports that critical resources like water for hoses were unavailable and that brush clearance wasn’t conducted on public land. These shortcomings need to be addressed, and tough questions asked of why our leadership, including the mayor, weren’t here. The basic fundamentals of leadership start with being present. These challenges demand accountability, and Angelenos deserve answers.

Einstein once said, “The definition of insanity is doing the same thing and expecting a different result.” I always say, “What’s predictable is preventable.” Yesterday, we had a fire in Brentwood because 40-year-old brush was on fire. It’s insanity that 20 months ago, 7,000 homes were destroyed by fire, yet no brush clearance has occurred. Call TraciParkforLA and Mayor Karen Bass and tell them how you feel about this insanity and incompetence. Thank you to the LAFD for your swift action.

Big ideas come from great leaders - even leaders that might not always agree with each other or come from different backgrounds. Mayor Bass and I agree: public-private partnerships like what we’ve done in the Palisades are the best way to solve many of LA’s needs. I thank her for her support and leadership to rebuild Palisades Park and The Palisades Village.

Musso & Frank Grill has been a Hollywood icon for 100 years. It survived WWII and the Great Depression - but now it might not survive Hugo Soto-Martínez mismanagement of the homelessness crisis that’s allowing encampments in front of the restaurant and scaring away guests. It’s unacceptable. Call Hugo (213-207-3015) and tell him how you feel.

We deserve better! Mayor Bass has repeatedly emphasized the “rapid pace of rebuilding, including issuing permits.” Thousands of homes were destroyed, and yet fewer than 100 building permits have been issued after six months. Does anyone believe this is rapid rebuilding? While the Army Corps did an amazing job clearing the debris, the City has failed to create the expedited permit process it promised. Residents are stuck in endless red tape at City Hall. Steadfast LA

New reporting from the Los Angeles Times reveals the Palisades fire was preventable. Firefighters wanted to stay and contain it, but were ordered to leave. The result: devastation across the community. It’s time for an independent investigation and real accountability. Read the article:

Los Angeles is facing crime, homelessness, and corruption — yet Councilwoman Nithya Raman wants to focus on banning backyard barbecues. This Memorial Day weekend, I’ll be firing up the grill and spending time with family and friends. We need common-sense leadership focused on fixing the real problems facing LA.

Mismanagement has real-life consequences. I just learned LAPD is at a 30-year low. More officers are quitting LAPD than joining, and now the City Council has canceled the next academy class. Neighborhoods are left feeling unsafe because it is impossible for LAPD to protect our city with limited resources. Our leadership continues to fail us.
