MacArthur Park has become an open-air drug market in the middle of a neighborhood where families live and children play. Federal agents seized millions in fentanyl while local leadership looked the other way. Councilwoman Councilmember Eunisses Hernandez has spent more time defending the status quo than fixing it. If she can’t protect the people living there, she should step aside. Lead, follow, or get out of the way.

Why won’t LA County release this year’s homeless count? Orange, San Francisco, and San Diego counties have all released their counts on time. The federal government and a federal judge have ruled that there is nothing prohibiting LAHSA from releasing the numbers. Are we dealing with a cover-up? Is it because it’s an election year? We need answers immediately when we are spending billions of dollars while vulnerable people continue sleeping and dying on our streets.

When the only post office on Skid Row is forced to close, it’s a clear sign that the status quo isn’t working. The people living there deserve better, businesses deserve protection, and Los Angeles deserves leaders willing to act. Lead, follow, or get out of the way.

Despite the heartbreak and frustration, I know this: we will rebuild our city. Together, we will support those who have lost so much, stand by our first responders, and emerge stronger. In times of great adversity, Angelenos always rise to the occasion—and this time will be no different. Entire neighborhoods have been wiped out, and countless Angelenos have lost their homes, businesses, and so much more. My heart breaks for all who are suffering, and I am profoundly grateful to our brave first responders. They are true heroes. At the same time, there’s undeniable frustration over reports that critical resources like water for hoses were unavailable and that brush clearance wasn’t conducted on public land. These shortcomings need to be addressed, and tough questions asked of why our leadership, including the mayor, weren’t here. The basic fundamentals of leadership start with being present. These challenges demand accountability, and Angelenos deserve answers.

Los Angeles says it doesn’t have enough money to fix our crumbling sidewalks. Yet the city walked away from $100 million in state funding that was specifically intended to repair sidewalks in underserved communities like Skid Row, Wilmington, and Boyle Heights because it said it couldn’t get the work done on time. That’s not a funding problem—it’s a leadership problem. Our neighborhoods deserve safe sidewalks, responsible management, and leaders who know how to deliver results instead of letting opportunities slip away.

We deserve better! Mayor Bass has repeatedly emphasized the “rapid pace of rebuilding, including issuing permits.” Thousands of homes were destroyed, and yet fewer than 100 building permits have been issued after six months. Does anyone believe this is rapid rebuilding? While the Army Corps did an amazing job clearing the debris, the City has failed to create the expedited permit process it promised. Residents are stuck in endless red tape at City Hall. Steadfast LA

Nashville is what Los Angeles could be with the right leadership. A citywide wave of investment, new housing, and retail development is driving an economic boom and job growth here. The result is a high quality of life: safe, clean streets, no encampments blocking sidewalks, and genuine urban energy that attracts both businesses and residents. Mismanagement has real-life consequences. I just learned LAPD is at a 30-year low. More officers are quitting LAPD than joining, and now the City Council has canceled the next academy class. Neighborhoods are left feeling unsafe because it is impossible for LAPD to protect our city with limited resources. Our leadership continues to fail us.

Councilmen Hugo Soto-Martínez says there’s nothing we can do about the crisis of 11 year old child prostitutes walking Figueroa Corridor. He’s wrong, as usual. LAPD Officer Rose Luledzhyan has put her life on the line for 28 years to help these girls, but Hugo throws his hands up and says we have to accept this reality. If Councilmen Martinez can’t or won’t help stop child sex trafficking & prostitution, he should resign. Lead, follow, or get out of the way.

What’s happening at SpaceX in El Segundo is truly extraordinary. Walking through those buildings, you feel an incredible sense of pride knowing that some of the most advanced technology in the world is being built right here in Southern California. The young men and women working there every day are helping shape the future of space, communication, and American leadership. Quality of life in Los Angeles is at its lowest level in 11 years according to a new survey. People & businesses are leaving to places like Austin & Nashville where life feels more affordable, safer, and cleaner. How do we stop this? We stop electing people based off ideology. Elect people based on competency and with a proven track record.

I’m proud to endorse Josh Fryday for Lieutenant Governor. Josh is a Navy veteran who served this country proudly and understands what real leadership looks like. He’s tough, driven by common sense and integrity, and focused on bringing people together to solve problems — not play political games. California needs leaders who will make tough decisions, restore accountability, and help move our state in the right direction. If we want to get back to the Golden State we know and love, we need leaders like Josh Fryday.
