Colonel Hansen thanked The King for his well wishes and reflections on environmental stewardship, ahead of their historic mission. 🌒 In a bid to ensure space is safe and clutter-free, the UK Space Agency is launching “Project Nova” – installing five telescopes sites worldwide to track space debris and support international sustainability. 🇧🇲 Bermuda is the first of those locations – and this morning, The King officially launched the project. In 2022, The King’s Sustainable Markets Initiative launched the ‘Astra Carta’ to act as a framework to inspire sustainability across the space industry.

On the second anniversary of Their Majesties’ Coronation, two commissioned Coronation State Portraits of King Charles III and Queen Camilla have been unveiled in the Central Hall at the National Gallery. The King chose to be painted by Peter Kuhfeld and The Queen selected Paul S. Benney. Both artists are known to Their Majesties already, having previously contributed to other royal commissions. These portraits join an important tradition of Coronation State Portraits dating back many centuries. The new portraits will be on display in the Central Room at the National Gallery, of which The King is Royal Patron, from Tuesday 6th May until Thursday 5th June. They will then move to their permanent home in the Throne Room at Buckingham Palace. Sixty years on, we remember the 144 people who lost their lives in the Aberfan disaster. Today, The King and The Queen, with The Prince of Wales, spent time at the Aberfan Memorial Garden and the Aberfan and Merthyr Vale Community Centre to honour their memory. The Aberfan Memorial Garden stands on the site of Pantglas School, where 109 children and 5 teachers died when the coal tip collapsed onto the village. While Kahwa is traditionally a spiced coffee, the concept has been adapted to draw on the long-standing British love of tea while preserving the aromatic spices and flavours that make Kahwa so distinctive: fragrant cardamom, delicate rose, sweet dates, and gentle warming spices. Guests will be invited to choose from an Iced Earl Grey & Date, an Iced Mint & Rose, or a Warm Cardamom-Spiced Blend sweetened with Windsor Honey. Remembering all those affected by the tragic events of 9/11, 25 years ago today. A commemorative Guard Change took place on the forecourt of Buckingham Palace this morning, during which The Duke and Duchess of Gloucester took the Royal Salute on behalf of The King. The ceremony included performances of both US and UK National Anthems, Hymn to the Fallen and Amazing Grace. Earlier this year, Their Majesties paid their respects at the 9/11 Memorial in New York, as part of the State Visit to the United States.
