Freddy Peralta will start Game 2 of the ALDS on Monday for the Rays He is asked to reflect on his journey from New York to Tampa Bay this season: "I was happy over there. Obviously I wasn't in the spot that I wanted to be with my numbers...but this is baseball. Everything changed when I got traded. I've been treated here as a king, and I feel really good about it. They work on me really well here. For me, and my family, this is a great opportunity to be the pitcher for the second game of the ALDS."

"I love him to death, but as the 2026 Mets - I know we've definitely underperformed - the guys in here work their ass off every single day. To have that reaction to an opposing player is crazy to me" - Sean Manaea on the Citi Field reception for Pete Alonso's 300th home run

Andy Green on Sean Manaea's comments on the ovations for Pete Alonso "Since the trade deadline, the fanbase has embraced this group and have done so at a time where we didn't take them on a journey to a place they wanted to go when the season started. We're gonna end up with like 3 of the top 6 Rookie of the Year candidates in the National League. The fans embraced that group, which is great to see. But, it did feel a little bit like a flip to see them embrace Pete at the level that they chosen to, which is totally understandable as well. But unique is a fair descriptor of the last couple of days. For us, we move forward with a great deal of confidence if we play winning baseball and give the fans something special to believe in, they'll be right back in our corner cheering us every single day"

Andy Green tells a story about Jared Young from their time in the Cubs organization: "We sent him down on the last day of the minor league season in Chicago one year. There was one more minor-league game the next day and we said, 'don't worry about it. You can go on home.' This guy likes to play so much, he said, 'can I drive to Iowa and play?' If you want to, but you can be done. I've never had a player do that in that situation. Most people are like, 'I'm leaving the big leagues, good - let's call it a season, let's move on. It's good enough.' He texted the Triple-A manager and said, 'I'm coming. I want to play. Can you put me in the lineup?' He hit a walk-off home run that day to end the minor league season. It's just indicative of the type of person he is, how much he loves being on the baseball field. He's loved in that clubhouse. He was loved in the Triple-A clubhouse. Any place he is, he's thought really highly of. He's just a great guy who had a great season, exceeded a lot of people's expectations. I don't think he exceeded mine at all, having had a lot of time with him through the years. I've believed all of this was possible and even more, but for him, I know it's a disappointing way to miss out on the last ten days of the year."
