“We train police to kill people, not animals.” - Kibra High Court Senior Principal Magistrate Samson Temu. The chilling words weren’t just a warning to Activist The People’s President. They reveal a system where both police and courts threaten those who speak out, rather than protect the people they are meant to serve. Missing Voices documented a total of 159 cases of extrajudicial killings and enforced disappearances in 2024. Out of the 159 cases, 104 (65%) were incidents of police-related killings, while 55 (35%) were those of enforced disappearances. #SemaUkweli #PolisiWakora #EndPoliceBrutalityKe #EndAbductionsKe

.The People’s President's son, Nate, narrates how police officers invaded their home while he was still asleep and whisked his dad away without identifying themselves or saying where they were taking him and why. There are other victims of these abductions who become scarred for life.

Some former employees of the Standard Media Group who were retrenched a few years ago have spoken out to reveal the suffering they have endured after allegedly not being paid their dues. They also accuse their former employer of failing to remit Sacco and statutory deductions as required by law. A number of former employees did not want to speak on record fearing they might jeopardize their chances of receiving their dues. One family member lamented about losing the home they had lived and raised their children in for many years after it was sold by the bank when they failed to make payments on a secured loan they had taken. The employee had not received a regular salary for many months. #SemaUkweli

Like thieves in the night, a contingent of armed police officers escorted demolition cranes to a long-disputed property along Douglas Wakiihuri Road, near Nyayo Stadium today, where goods and property worth millions of shillings was destroyed. The property, said to be owned by Kenya Railways, is allegedly leased to Kiambu Governor, Kimani Wamatangi. Following the exercise that was carried out while people slept, owners of cars parked on the property were left counting huge losses as their vehicles suffered extensive damages. #SemaUkweli

Following his arrest and brutal assault on 2nd April, Boniface Mwangi appeared in court today to take plea in a case where he faces assault charges leveled against him by the very same police who assaulted him. Where is the justice when the victim becomes the accused? #SemaUkweli

Boniface Mwangi is recovering well. Today, Hon. Martha Karua was among friends and family who visited him to show support. His body is bruised, but his spirit remains unbroken. Agather Atuhaire of Uganda has also been found and reunited with her family. While she also exhibited signs of having undergone severe torture, we are hopeful that she will make a full recovery. What they both endured as guests of Tanzania can never be forgotten. They were illegally detained and tortured for four days by the government of Samia Suluhu , as Kenyan and Ugandan authorities twiddled their thumbs and watched. State Department for Foreign Affairs | Kenya We will not be silent. We will keep demanding justice for them, and for all the others who are languishing in detention for daring to defy oppressive regimes across East Africa. #JusticeForBonifaceMwangi #JusticeForAgatherAtuhaire #SemaUkweli

Story by Faith Omari, Citizen Journalist. A young man lures his neighbour's 5-year-old daughter to his home, proceeds to rape and strangle her to death, and then attempts to dispose of her body in a pit latrine. His reason for doing so? He's interested in the girl's mother and thinks he can get close to her when he goes to console her about the missing daughter. The evidence against the suspect is overwhelming, yet the case has been dragging on since 2017. Meanwhile, the victim's mother alleges that the suspect's family has been harassing and threatening her because she continues to seek justice for her innocent child. Her simple question to the judiciary is how much longer will she have to wait before justice is finally done and she can finally be at peace? #SemaUkweli

Is it a coincidence that Boniface Mwangi was arrested just a day after he sued the Tanzanian and Kenyan governments? Is president Ruto weaponizing the Country's security agencies to go after his critics? Can the judiciary resist being co-opted by Ruto in his attempt to clamp down on anyone considered to be opposing him? #SemaUkweli #FreeBonifaceMwangi

The Kenyan police force sunk to a new low when its officers joined ranks with hired goons to attack peaceful protestors in the country's capital today. Groups of men armed with clubs and "nyahunyos" (rubber whips) were spotted in different parts of the city in the company of police officers who appeared to be directing them where to go. Others rode around on motorbikes, robbing and beating up innocent people. Some protestors were forced to seek refuge in buildings to avoid the goons, but others fought back and managed to to drive them away. The police spokesman later issued a statement denouncing the goons, but the question that remains is why did they allow them to roam freely the whole day, wreaking havoc on innocent people? #SemaUkweli #StopPoliceBrutality #endpolicebrutalityke #JusticeForEliJoshua #TuesdayMaandamano Inspector General of Police- Kenya.

End of Day 3. Boniface Mwangi and Agather Atuhaire are still missing. They were last seen in Tanzanian custody. Since then, there has been silence. No confirmation of their location and no proof of life. Despite repeated appeals, the State Department for Foreign Affairs | Kenya has done little to intervene. This is unacceptable. Citizens are showing up tomorrow at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for a Silent Solidarity Sit-In. Join us physically or online. This is not just about two people but about all of us. #FreeBonifaceMwangi #FreeAgatherAtuhaire #FreeTunduLissu #FreeKizzaBesigye #EACUnderSiege #SemaUkweli Musalia W Mudavadi Samia Suluhu

Despite conflicting reports circulating online, there is still no verified information on the whereabouts of activists, Boniface Mwangi and Agather Atuhaire. There has been no communication from them, and no credible proof of their condition or location. It does not appear that the State Department for Foreign Affairs | Kenya is doing enough to resolve the situation or guarantee their safety. We continue to demand the immediate and unconditional release of the activists. No one should be subjected to this kind of treatment, and no government should remain silent when its citizens are in danger. #FreeBonifaceMwangi #FreeAgatherAtuhaire #FreeTunduLissu #SemaUkweli
