Why is #Africa cursed with leaders like this? Uhuru Kenyata's net worth is estimated to be Half a Billion US dollars. The AU sent him to witness an election that puts even Idi Amin Baba to shame. And here is what he said early morning before #Ethiopians went to the ballot box.

The warning signs of a fragmenting #Ethiopia are becoming harder to ignore. The President of the Somali Region (Mustafe Mohammed Omer) is openly discussing about the breakup of the #Ethiopian state, admitting that he had prepared the Somali region to secede if the TPLF were to return to power. That admission speaks volumes about the state of Ethiopia under Abiy Ahmed. It depicts one ethnic region is unwilling to be governed by another, and where the prospect of TPLF leadership is seen as a trigger for the country's disintegration. In this video he clearly states that, as TPLF forces advanced toward Addis Ababa, his overriding concern was not to fight for his country, but breaking the Somali Region away from Ethiopia. This raises an obvious question: what calculations were being made by Abiy at the time? may be seceding Oromia? The current fragile state of Ethiopia demands leadership capable of leading the country peacefully —not presiding over its slow unraveling.

Abiy Ahmed's current advisor, Getachew Reda, was once asked: "Do the military parades and displays being staged by Abiy remind you of the final days of Mengistu Haile Mariam and Muammar Gaddafi?" Getachew replied: "I do not wish ill upon Comrade Abiy, but the parallels are striking. These displays reveal a deep sense of insecurity rather than confidence. In my view, his latest military spectacle is intended to intimidate and instill fear among the public. Those who are insecure often make the most noise. As the Eritreans say, an empty vessel makes the loudest sound."

A Kenyan politician specializing in foreign relations and security put it bluntly: “It is #Ethiopia that stands accused of irredentism.” He added that Addis Ababa now finds itself increasingly isolated — with virtually every major actor, from the #US and #SaudiArabia to #China, the #ArabLeague, and multiple #African states — telling Ethiopia that its approach is unacceptable, leaving the country on the defensive diplomatically. He stressed that it is perfectly normal for a landlocked state to seek sea access through bilateral agreements with its neighbours — #Eritrea, #Djibouti, or #Somalia. But it becomes an entirely different matter when a country starts entertaining the idea of seizing territory by force, imposing a naval base, and projecting military power at the expense of its neighbours. According to him, even Ethiopia’s closest partners have made it clear: this path is beyond the pale.

Please help me make sense with these two video clips of Abiy flirting with Ramophosa. First Video: Abiy is clearly heard saying 'I will give you a house' Second Video: Abiy is heard saying 'Africa is missing two great leaders' referring to himself and Ramophosa. As I said, help me make sense of these videos! #Ethiopia

This man is a Minister in #Ethiopia's Prosperity Party (PP) government. In an interview on Ethiopian Broadcasting Corporation (EBC) few days ago, he discussed Ethiopia's unlawful claim to ownership of Red Sea coastal territory. In doing so, he bastardizes the history of the Horn of #Africa to accommodate Abiy Ahmed's Red-Sea fantasies and to destruct the poor #Ethiopian public. We constantly receive messages from PP supporters on social media telling us not to speak about Ethiopia and related matters. I would be more than happy not to mention Ethiopia if its covetous Ministers and Generals would stop mentioning #Eritrea. The relentless propaganda and toxic indoctrination aimed at persuading ordinary #Ethiopians that they are victims because of the Red Sea issue is becoming increasingly dangerous. If left unchecked, it could easily lead to conflict, destruction, and further destabilization of the region. In this clip, he appears to have little understanding of how modern nation-states are formed, particularly how sovereignty and borders were established in #Africa. He refers to the 4th-century Kingdom of Aksum and its use of the port of Adulis as justification for contemporary territorial claims. Someone needs to explain to this greedy Minister that if the borders of African states were to be determined according to the ancient kingdoms, then present-day Ethiopia would not be recognizable . Large parts of what is now Ethiopia—including #Oromo, #Somali, 'Southern people', #Afar, and #Benishangul-#Gumuz regions—would not be part of modern day Ethiopia. Even the #Amhara heartland was not fully part of the Aksumite Kingdom during much of its existence. So when he uses Aksumite Kingdom of the 4th century to justify his Red-Sea fantasies, which Ethiopia exactly is he referring to? The modern Ethiopian state did not exist in its current territorial form, and using ancient kingdoms as a basis for contemporary sovereignty claims raises even more difficult questions his small brain can answers.

Berhanu Nega may have just delivered the most devastating blow to Abiy’s delusional politics, issuing a resignation statement from his party that doubles as a stark warning about #Ethiopia’s bleak political future. In an hour-long speech he gave a damning account of the deep chaos and uncertainty facing the country. Whatever Berhanu’s ultimate objective may be, the address is a must-listen. Although, the government-aligned TV stations appear to have cut some of the most damaging portions of his remarks, what remains is still politically explosive. Among the striking admissions and warnings he delivered were: “We have failed politically as a country.” "We have made Ethiopia's economy even much worse than it was 60 years ago, where 80% of our population is still expecting to be fed using stone-age agricultural practices" “It is unthinkable to live in Ethiopia—a country of many ethnicities and religions—while we have institutionalized politics based on ethnicity and religion.” “Given the way our politics is structured, it is impossible to believe we can continue as a functioning society.” “We must pull ourselves away from backstabbing and accusatory politics. We must listen to each other and abandon the ‘my way or the highway’ mentality, as well as the illiterate hubris of thinking only about ourselves without regard for the consequences for others.” “Politics must not become a space from which wise and capable people flee, leaving it to be dominated by boisterous and unintelligent voices.” “We should refrain from turning those with different ideas into mortal enemies.” “If we do not change our ways now, it is hard to imagine what the fate of our country will be.” “If we continue practicing politics the way we do today, we will not withstand the major changes taking place around us.” Taken together, these remarks amount to a rare public acknowledgment from within Ethiopia’s political elite that the country’s current political structure is unsustainable.

The entire population of the Horn of #Africa — #Ethiopia, #Eritrea, #Somalia, #Sudan, and #Djibouti — who took the time to watch Abiy’s staged interview yesterday must have been left wondering whether he truly believes he can mislead and persuade simply by reading from a teleprompter, all while preparing the ground for yet another war against #Tigray and #Eritrea. Five years ago, after delivering another awkward Tigrinya-language interview — much like the one he gave yesterday — Abiy read the following statement from a teleprompter to declare war on Tigray! The depth of delusion he appears to be operating under is difficult to comprehend. Who does he think will believe him this time? In this statement given (reading from teleprompter in November 2020), he declared: “In a relatively short period of time, we will accomplish our objectives and create a conducive environment for our people in Tigray. We will exercise due care to protect law-abiding and peaceful citizens from harm… Ultimately, this rule-of-law enforcement operation will enable sustainable peace and stability throughout the country.”

Here is a clip Mirjam van Reisen openly admitting that 'all of us' [Western] politicians, policy makers, researchers & other responsibilities need to understand what the strategic #African leader Isaias Afwerki of #Eritrea is thinking in order to get rid of him #AfricaClimateSummit23

President Isaias of #Eritrea reading of global and regional politics is uncanny. He clearly predicted that Iran was going to be attacked four months ago in his New year address. It is almost prophetic! He was planning the effects of an attack on Iran and how to deal with its consequences, before it actually happened. WoW!

Two years ago, Abiy Ahmed Ali Abiy Ahmed Ali 🇪🇹 said to his parliament "#Ethiopia's history will never forget its indebtedness to the people & government of #Eritrea. We will never deny or forget what Eritrea did for Ethiopia in our hour-of-need and when everybody abandoned Ethiopia"

I’ve been waiting for this great news. Ximdo’s pioneering activist Awel Seid has announced that he will soon publish detailed evidence tracing the origins of the Tigray genocide allegations, accompanied by a comprehensive documentary supported by verified materials and interviews of crimes committed by Abiy Ahmed’s forces during the Tigray war, as well as testimonies from military leaders confirming that many Tigrayans—who were on the verge of being killed by Abiy’s troops—were in fact saved by the Eritrean Defence Forces. As always, every aspect of the conflict has been meticulously documented in the characteristic manner of the Eritrean forces.

#Eritrean people and officials stood in solidarity with the #Oromo people always, including in international forums, at a time when #Ethiopia’s current PP leaders were part of a government that sought to crush the #OromoProtest. #Eritrea's principled stance for peaceful coexistence of the people of Horn of #Africa is not a matter for political expediency!

The immaturity and fantasy of PP cheerleaders never cease to amaze. A routine visit by an AFRICOM commander to Ethiopia is suddenly spun by PP sycophants as some kind of endorsement for their dreams of sea access and other grandiose ambitions. The AFRICOM General has a clearly defined mandate, which he laid out in the interview he gave during his first visit after being appointed Commander. He has now landed in #Hargeisa, #Somaliland about an hour ago, and he will deliver the same message there as well: he is in the region to ensure the safety and security of Americans — nothing more, nothing less.

Redwan Hussien (Redwan Hussien), now #Ethiopia's National Security Advisor, argued in 2005 that: 1. Only #Eritreans can decide how their ports (Massawa & Assab) are used; any threats won't work. 2. #Ethiopians must look inward, not outward, to solve their problems. 3. Historical blame for the border lies with Emperor Menelik's treaties with Italy, not modern leaders. 4. Ethiopia's economy collapsed while it occupied the ports and has grown rapidly without them.

“‘WHATEVER THE SUPERLATIVES THERE’… You truly can't make this stuff up. Nine years ago, Mehdi Hasan (Mehdi Hasan) interviewed Getachew Reda on Al Jazeera English about the EPRDF’s brutality, and Getachew used the exact same phrase he repeated yesterday: ‘Whatever the superlatives there…’ We wait with interest for the full release of this long-delayed interview, but the circumstances surrounding Getachew’s public pillorying are highly curious. This felt staged. Questionable figures like Kjetil Tronvoll, Tsedal Lemma, and others were parachuted in for what looks like a choreographed humiliation of Getachew Reda—perhaps to shield Abiy Ahmed. But why would Getachew agree to this? - Was it meant to divert the news cycle for a few days? - To cleanse Abiy of the ‘genocider’ label as he prepares for a confrontation with Eritrea? - Or did the whole plan backfire on both Getachew and Abiy, because of Mehdi's line of questioning? #Ethiopia #EritreaPrevails Neither Getachew nor Abiy can claim to have walked out of that interview smelling of roses.

Abiy Set to Invade #Eritrea, Says Senior #Ethiopian Politician Eng. Yilikal Getnet In this honest and revealing interview with Anchor Media, Eng. Yilikal says 'Almost every day, without exception, it is Abiy who declares, “I will invade you, I will destroy you, I will start a war.” What is Eritrea supposed to do in this kind of relentless provocation? Yet, those claiming that a war is imminent between #Eritrea and #Ethiopia are deliberately creating a false balance — portraying both countries as equally responsible. This narrative seeks to divide public opinion, fuel speculation about who is right or who might win, and obscure the simple truth: Abiy Ahmed is the one preparing for war under the pretext of “bringing back #Assab.” If he truly believes this madness serves his interest, let him proceed — and good luck to the few who might follow him. There is no justification for the Ethiopian people to be dragged into another reckless conflict. Such a war would be disastrous, violate international law, and destroy any hope of diplomatic resolution. Therefore, the real headline should not read “Eritrea and Ethiopia Heading to War” — it should state plainly: “Abiy is about to invade Eritrea.” As for Getachew and Tsadkan, who only recently fought a war against Abiy and now seek to align with him in a new one, all that can be said is: good luck again. In the end, the Foreign Policy article’s intent is unmistakable — to fabricate moral equivalence between Eritrea and Ethiopia and make both appear equally culpable in a war that Abiy alone is provoking.'

By now, it should be clear to everyone that this man has completely lost the plot. He’ll say anything that pops into his head just to manufacture a “feel-good” moment for his cadres—who will, in turn, flood social media with AI-generated graphics to glorify his delusions. In this latest clip, he goes as far as to declare—before the entire world—that by 2030, Ethiopia will produce and supply the global aviation market with a commercial aircraft made in Ethiopia.

The manufactured outrage by the Prosperity Party (PP) over President Isaias's remarks on 'Oromumma' has been thoroughly exposed by the respected #Oromo/#Ethiopian scholar, Professor Ezekiel Gebissa. Professor Gebissa makes it unequivocally clear: President Isaias said nothing new—his statements are consistent with what he has expressed for the past seven years. More importantly, he emphasizes that PP's 'Oromumma' ideology does not truly represent the Oromo people. On the contrary, it is harming the Oromo communities, isolating them and fueling animosity from other groups, particularly the Amhara and Tigrayans. He also exposes PP’s escalating warmongering rhetoric and its dangerous push to ignite a new conflict with #Eritrea. Listen to the full video. The message is clear.
