Referring to human beings as “illegal aliens” is awfully dehumanizing. Let’s not normalize this racist and offensive language. For those of you who say, “it’s the legal term,” they use to refer to my people as slaves, legally. And it was wrong. It was wrong then, and it’s wrong now.

Under the orders of Donald Trump, ICE and Border Patrol launched an unprecedented assault in Los Angeles, Portland, Chicago and now Charlotte claiming they are after the “worst of the worst.” Today we have learned that of 614 people arrested on the streets of Chicago without an immigration warrant in violation of a settlement agreement (non-targeted arrests), just 16 have a significant criminal record. More proof they’re rounding up dishwashers and landscapers, not hardened criminals. Trump’s masked agents have caused significant harm and traumatized communities. So here’s my question, what are we going to do about it?
