Zero tolerance for Child Marriage in West Bengal 🚫 I commend the prompt and proactive action of Samserganj Police Station and the CDPO in Murshidabad district for successfully preventing two child marriages on September 9 and 10, 2026. In the first instance on September 9, a 16-year-old girl from Gajinagar was rescued before an illegal child marriage could have been conducted. Strict legal action has been initiated; a case has been registered against all individuals involved, including the Kazi and the girl's father has been arrested. Following necessary protocols, she was safely produced before the Child Welfare Committee (CWC) for counseling. Demonstrating our continuous vigilance, yet another potential child marriage was swiftly thwarted by the Police team on September 10, ensuring the protection and future of another minor girl, who has also been placed under CWC care. Our government remains unyielding in its commitment to protecting our daughters, securing their right to education, and completely eradicating child marriage from our soil. The lawlessness on full display since day before yesterday, right from Farakka to Chakulia is spreading like wildfire. The National Highway at Beldanga; Murshidabad district, has been completely obstructed by anti social elements for almost 3 hours now. Rampant stone pelting is happening unabated. The trains have been forcefully halted. The area is under the complete dominance of hoodlums, hooligans and goons. No sign of Police action till now. Thousands of passengers are stranded who are petrified and without food and water, with no respite in sight. I would like to urge the DGP (acting) West Bengal Police to mobilize Forces and regain control of the area. What a Shame ! What a disgraceful comment by a CM. Mamata Banerjee claims that India has never won a Gold Medal in Olympics. Either she hasn't heard the names of Abhinav Bindra, Neeraj Chopra and is not acquainted about the laurels earned by the Indian Hockey Team. I am bringing a serious matter of electoral malpractice and illegal interference to the immediate notice of the Election Commission of India. It has come to our knowledge that a person named Mojarul; who is a Personnel of the Kolkata Police, hailing from Nandigram, is unauthorizedly handling Voter Lists and actively summoning Police Personnel to the SDO Office in Haldia to cast their votes. He is reportedly instructing them to bring their Departmental I-Cards and Voter IDs for this purpose. This is a violation and illegal Interference. A Serving Police Personnel has no authority to manage voter lists or "coordinate" the voting process of other personnel in this manner. This is a clear attempt to interfere with the Postal Ballot process, potentially compromising the neutrality and secrecy of the vote for Uniformed Personnel. The involvement of a KP personnel in such activity at the Haldia SDO Office raises serious questions about the Jurisdictional Breach and influence being exerted on the ground. I urge the Election Commission of India & CEO West Bengal to take immediate cognizance of this blatant violation, investigate the role of Mojarul and under whose authority he is operating. ECI also must ensure that the Postal Ballot process remains free from the influence of middlemen or partisan elements within the Police Force.

Shameful, Condemnable & Disrespectful West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee states that, "This is 'Mrityu Kumbh' & not Maha Kumbh". She doesn't have an idea regarding the Holy Maha Kumbh event which is happening after 144 years. The Jihadis are out of control and are plundering, bashing and vandalising in an unabated manner. Their targets are Hindus, whoever it may be. Look at the condition of the driver of a goods vehicle carrying cottage cheese. He was bashed up brutally for no fault of his own. Urgent Central Force deployment is the only solution to control the situation as Police have failed to contain the vandalism and hooliganism.

As a responsible Leader of Opposition I intended to visit the area, only after the rescue operation was over. But instead of accountability, the TMC Administration has unleashed its favorite weapon: suppression of truth and opposition by getting a prohibitory order under Section 163(2) BNSS issued, banning assembly of 5 or more persons within a 100-meter radius of the incident site from 5 PM on 28 January until 30 March 2026. This draconian order is nothing but a shameless, targeted conspiracy to block me from visiting the area, meeting grieving families, consoling victims, and leading a peaceful protest march against TMC’s criminal negligence. They know the moment I reach Nazirabad/Narendrapur, the people’s rage will boil over against this inefficient State Govt, the failures of the Mamata Banerjee Govt will be laid bare, and their lies will crumble. This is not law and order; this is state-sponsored strangulation of Democracy.

Earlier today, I traveled from Bagdogra Airport en route to Kalimpong to attend scheduled programs and Administrative review meetings. Unfortunately, due to dense cloud cover and poor visibility it was unsafe to attempt a landing and the helicopter had to return to Bagdogra Airport. I truly regret that I am unable to meet the people of Kalimpong in person today. However, our commitment to the welfare and progress of the region remains steadfast. I will connect virtually with the Kalimpong Administration from the North Bengal Secretariat, Uttar Kanya and conduct all scheduled programs and meetings without delay. Thank you to everyone in Kalimpong for your patience and understanding. I look forward to connecting with the Administration and Participants virtually shortly and I will ensure that an in-person visit is rescheduled at the earliest.

The Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) has received concerning videos and photographic representations through the CM’s Grievance Cell from conscientious Students of Jadavpur University, reporting instances of objectionable, sociopathic, violent and Anti-National wall graffiti & drawings inside the Arts Division Boys Hostel premises. Educational Institutions are sacred spaces of learning, academic excellence and nation-building. Under no circumstances will Campus premises be permitted to be used as platforms for spreading deranged propaganda and Anti-India sentiment. I urge Vice Chancellor, Jadavpur University, Principal Secretary Higher Education Department and other competent Authorities to initiate an immediate inquiry into the matter, firstly by conducting an on-ground physical verification of the Arts Division Boys Hostel area to ascertain the existence of these inappropriate wall graffiti and if found then proceed to identify the individuals involved. The West Bengal Government strictly follow Zero Tolerance Policy towards Anti National Activities anywhere in the State, especially in Campuses of Educational Institutions. The concerned Department and University Administration must ensure stringent compliance and the preservation of academic integrity. If the presence of such Anti-National messaging and deranged psychotic drawings is verified, immediate steps must be taken to remove the graffiti, fix accountability and initiate strict administrative and legal action against those responsible. Today, I had the privilege of attending the solemn Oath-taking Ceremony of the Hon’ble Justice Ravindra Vithalrao Ghuge as the 45th Chief Justice of the prestigious Calcutta High Court, held at the historic Court Room No. 1. The Oath of Office was administered by His Excellency the Hon’ble Governor of West Bengal, Shri R. N. Ravi, in adherence to Constitutional protocols under Article 219 of the Constitution of India. The proceedings commenced in full formal dignity with the reading of the official Warrant of Appointment issued by Her Excellency the Hon'ble President of India Smt. Droupadi Murmu Ji, followed by the formal administration of the oath of allegiance and adherence to the Constitution, concluding with the ceremonial signature, National Song and National Anthem. Alongside myself, the ceremony was graced by the Hon’ble Speaker of the West Bengal Legislative Assembly, Shri Rathindra Bose; sitting and retired Judges of the Calcutta High Court; learned members of the Bar; the Advocate General; the Chief Secretary; and other senior Civil and Judicial dignitaries. Following the swearing-in, I had the distinct pleasure of congratulating Hon’ble Chief Justice and presenting him with a floral bouquet and a framed portrait of Swami Vivekananda as a token of goodwill and reverence on behalf of the People of West Bengal. I extend my warmest congratulations and best wishes to Hon'ble Chief Justice Ravindra Vithalrao Ghuge, may his tenure further fortify the Rule of Law, safeguard Constitutional values, and ensure prompt and fair justice for every Citizen of our State.

Religious flags and the pride of our Nation; the Indian Tricolour were carried with full freedom & respect throughout the State on the occasion of Milad-un-Nabi. At the same time, our Administration maintains an uncompromising Zero-Tolerance Policy against any attempt to disrupt social harmony or misuse sacred occasions for External Political Propaganda. I appreciate the swift and decisive action taken by the Islampur District Police in confiscating unauthorized Foreign Flags, registering FIRs and initiating strict legal proceedings against those involved. Only two flags were confiscated across the State. Religious events belong to faith and fraternity, not Foreign Geopolitical Agendas or divisive propaganda, which was habitually allowed by the previous regime due to their policy of engaging in appeasement politics. The era of compromising the Rule of Law and National dignity for appeasement politics is over. Deeply pained and saddened by the tragic loss of lives due to the collapse of an under-construction warehouse building near Brace Bridge in Taratala, where several workers got trapped beneath the debris. So far 21 people have been pulled out of the collapsed structure, out of which 18 are injured and 3 people have lost their lives. Words fail to express my sorrow for the precious lives lost in this tragedy. My deepest condolences go out to their bereaved families. The State Government stands firmly with them in this hour of unimaginable grief and we will extend all possible support to them. Rescue and relief operations are currently being carried out on a war footing. The Army, NDRF, SDRF, Kolkata Police and KMC are jointly conducting the rescue operations to ensure every trapped worker is brought to safety as quickly as possible. I pray for the quick recovery of those who got injured. I have instructed the UDMA Department to closely coordinate the entire operation. MoS Dr. Indranil Khan is already present at the site and is personally supervising the ongoing rescue efforts. I am personally reaching the spot right now to take stock of the situation on the ground. Please keep the affected families and the rescue workers in your prayers.

I feel truly blessed after seeking the divine darshan of Lord Jagannath, Lord Balabhadra and Devi Subhadra at the ISKCON Kolkata Temple, followed by the spiritual grace of joining the opening festivities in Tamluk and Mecheda. Witnessing the ocean of devotees chanting the Holy Names with such pure devotion as they pulled the Chariots was a profoundly moving experience. The Ratha Yatra is a divine manifestation of devotion and surrender in the service of the Supreme Lord. As the Chariots roll, may Mahaprabhu Jagannath Dev bestow His infinite compassion, spiritual light and inner peace upon every soul. May His divine blessings guide us on the path of righteousness.

Mamata Banerjee has sent her TMC goons to the apolitical Protest Rally near RG Kar Medical College and Hospital. She thinks that she is the most shrewd person in the whole world and people won't be able to figure out the cunning plan that her goons appearing as protestors would mix with the crowd and carry out vandalism inside the RG Kar Medical College and Hospital. They were given safe passage by the Police, who either ran away or looked the other way so that these lumpens would enter the hospital premises and destroy areas containing crucial evidence so that it doesn't get picked up by the CBI. As they were dumb TMC hooligans they couldn't execute the plan well and revealed their identity when they vandalised the Dharna Manch of the Resident Doctors, PGTs & Internees. Why would someone who has come to show solidarity would destroy the Epicenter of the Protests? Lastly the protests happened peacefully across the State, why violence erupted at RG Kar only? @BengalGovernor should immediately intervene. Central Bureau of Investigation (India) should take note of the brazen attempt by TMC to destroy evidence.
