Palestinian MMA fighter and former US marine, Sean 'The Smoke' Sharaf, gave an emotional post-fight interview to Joe Rogan after a spectacular left hook knock out of favourite Gable Steveson. Sharaf wore a Palestinian keffiyeh and recited the Fatiha, the opening chapter of the Quran, while thanking Allah for his victory.

In a light-hearted moment with the Syrian diaspora in New York before the UN General Assembly, Syria's President Ahmed al-Sharaa asked for his and Foreign Minister Asaad al-Shaibani's chairs to be changed. He referenced his last visit to New York where he asked for his chair and that of Shaibani's to be the same, and joked that this time "I'm not being humble, but the chairs are frankly just uncomfortable!" Noting the propensity of Arab rulers to never abandon their thrones, one of the audience shouts: "It's the first time a president relinquishes his chair!"

"Post-Assad Syria is persecuting Christians", according to posts that regularly go viral. In reality, Syrian authorities just returned to official use a Franciscan school that the Assad regime's Baath Party forcibly seized and nationalised nearly 60 years ago. Under Baath nationalisation in the 1960s, the official Franciscan school was taken over - but teaching continued clandestinely. The inauguration of the "Holy Land School", which began resuming activities since last year, happened in Qanya-Yaqubiyah, two Christian villages in SW Idlib countryside. "After it had been closed for nearly 60 years by the Ba'ath Party and the Assad regime, we participated today in the reopening of the Holy Land School in both Qanya and Yaqubiya in the al-Shughour area of the western ldlib countryside, so that its doors may reopen to our children and students."

During a conversation with LBC News this morning, host Matthew Wright attempted to correct Dr Tallha Abdulrazaq for saying "Jewish settlers" and instead offered the alternative "Israeli settlers". Dr Abdulrazaq immediately pushed back, insisting on the illegal settlers' Jewish identity, and light heartedly quipped, "They're not Arab Muslims settling on that land."

Following his recent visit to Syria, Dr. Yasir Qadhi, an influential Muslim preacher based in Texas, offered a reflection on the country’s post-Assad transition and its current administration. He argued that Syria’s leadership should be evaluated through long-term strategic thinking rather than expectations of immediate perfection, particularly after more than a decade of war and over 50 years of oppressive Ba’athist rule. While emphasising that he is “not their defence lawyer,” he also made clear that he is also “not their critic.” Qadhi praised the overthrow of the Assad regime, highlighted what he described as the absence of a personality cult surrounding the current leadership, and called on Muslims to support Syria’s recovery through any lawful means available. He also urged people to overlook minor shortcomings, recognise the immense domestic and international challenges facing the country’s new administration, and pray for the leadership’s success in Syria.

Iraqi Shia politician and former MP in the Iraqi parliament, Faiq Sheikh Ali, claims that it was Iran who brought Al-Qaeda to Iraq after the US-led 2003 invasion to use them to fight against and pressure the Americans. Iran - a Shia Islamist theocracy - backed the Sunni militants by providing them with food, clothing and accommodation, and then allowed them to enter Iraq via Iran to destabilise the country.

In a November 2024 debate, Daniel Haqiqatjou continuously engaged in mudslinging against not only Dr Dr Tallha Abdulrazaq, but also against anyone critical of Iran. His position was, effectively, that you're either with Iran, or you're a Zionist. When Dr Abdulrazaq shot back that Haqiqatjou's own father worked for Boeing, part of the US's vast military-industrial complex, and provided weapons to Israel as it perpetrated its genocide in Gaza, Haqiqatjou had no response.

Ousted Syrian dictator, Bashar al-Assad, has been sentenced to death by a criminal court in Damascus for perpetrating atrocities against the people of Syria. He was sentenced in absentia, but henchmen who are already in Syrian custody like Atef Najib who were complicit in countless murders and tortures particularly in Daraa in the south of the country will face capital punishment.

One of Iraq's most powerful Shia Islamist commanders linked to Iran and the IRGC, Hadi al-Amiri, has threatened to "take revenge" against Saudi Arabia after Riyadh and Washington launched joint airstrikes on Shia terrorists in Iraq.
