Dear Objectv Media, proper investigative journalism leaves sensationalism and actually educates the citizen. You can't be a journalist if you won't do the hard work of knowing that the road is an FG road, UNDER CONTRACT of rehabilitation. Check and see

Sunny Ade ò re ibìkan, àríyá ò gbọ́dọ̀ pin...🎶 🎶 🎤 Happy 80th birthday to the King of World Music Chief Sunday Adeniyi Adegeye MFR (King Sunny Adé) turns 80 today, 22 September 2026. Born in Òṣogbo into a Yoruba royal family with ties to Ondo and Akure, he grew up between church music (his father was an organist) and the talking drums, praise poetry and dance culture of Yorubaland. He left school for Lagos, played highlife with Moses Olaiya (Baba Sala)’s Federal Rhythm Dandies, then in 1967 formed his own band, Green Spots (later the African Beats) and never looked back. He took jùjú, once a local guitar and percussion dance music, and made it a global language with talking drums answering pedal steel guitar, call-and-response riding synthesisers, and distilled Yoruba wisdom into dance-floor grooves that will inspire deep introspection in the quieter hours. Hits from “Challenge Cup” onward, albums such as Sound Vibration, The Royal Sound, Juju Music (1982), Synchro System (1983), and Aura (1984) made him the King of Juju at home and a pioneer of world music abroad after he signed with Island Records. Synchro System earned him a Grammy nomination, a first ever for a Nigerian-based artist. Odu (1998) brought a second nomination for Best World Music Album. He remains the trailblazer who opened that door. He has been honored for his contributions with awards including Member of the Order of the Federal Republic, “King of World Music” at the International Reggae and World Music Awards (2008), induction into the Afropop Hall of Fame (2009) and Hard Rock Cafe Hall of Fame (2016), The Headies Hall of Fame, AFRIMA recognition, visiting lecturer at Obafemi Awolowo University. He is the founder of the King Sunny Ade Foundation and a long-time champion of musicians’ rights through the Musical Copyright Society of Nigeria. New York Times once called him one of the world’s great bandleaders. Spin ranked him among the great guitarists. Six decades on, the crown still fits. Kábíyèsí Sunny Ade has not stopped performing because àríyá must not end. Happy 80th, Kabiyesi. Long may the King dance. 👑🎸🥁 Here 👇🏽 is King Sunny Ade at London Raggae Sunsplash, 1984.
