“Chris Benoit was replaced by Johnny Nitro for the ECW World Championship match at Vengeance, as Benoit was not there due to personal issues, stemming from the death of his wife Nancy.” On June 25 at around 12:01 a.m. roughly 14 hours before police found the bodies an anonymous editor added this to Benoit’s Wikipedia page. The IP was traced back to a Matthew Greenberg who lived within blocks of the WWE headquarters in Stamford Connecticut. Below is the actual interrogation of the Greenberg.

On Sept 28, 1998 Raw, Owen Hart hit Dan Severn with an inverted piledriver that was supposed to be a work… but he dropped him on his head for real. Severn: “I take the full impact on my head and I feel a bolt of lightning run down my spine and then run down my right leg… Can I feel my fingers? Nunzio just gave Paul Heyman his flowers on Insight with Chris Van Vliet . After ECW folded he was working at Snapple when the phone rang one day at a restaurant… “I look at it and it says Paul E. He goes, ‘Congratulations!’ I’m like, what’s up? He says, ‘I told you I’d get you a job. John Laurinaitis will be calling you in a couple of weeks. Answer your phone.’ And he hung up.” Heyman didn’t just get him in the door he also created the Nunzio name on the spot instead of bringing Little Guido over. “He’s like, ‘Oh, I got this guy Nunzio, small guy. Nunzio on Insight with Chris Van Vliet today dropped one of the wildest “how the hell did that happen” stories. Blizzard hits, December 26, MSG house show. Half the crew (including the refs) can’t make it. Tommy Dreamer hits him up out of the blue: “You think you can get to the Garden? They need a referee.” Nunzio’s like “alright, I’ll try.” Drives through the snow from Rockland County, parks, walks in… and he’s the only referee that showed up. Vince is there (rare for a house show), Dean Malenko’s the agent, Johnny Ace is around. Nunzio ends up working pretty much the whole card. After the show he comes back through the curtain, Vince thanks him, asks what he’s doing now, and then… everybody’s gone. Nunzio’s standing there thinking “guess I don’t get paid for this… but it was fun.” A little later Johnny Ace calls: trial run as a referee. He ends up doing it for about a year.
