Perry Saturn on Insight with Chris Van Vliet just explained how The Radicalz actually made it to WWE. “Bro, that happened so f*cking fast. I had an internet guy, Jeff, and he called Prichard to see if they were interested. While that was going on, Bill Busch had this meeting telling us that anybody who doesn’t want to be here, they will release them. Prichard called me back an hour later and said we want you in Connecticut now.” Then Mike Graham pulled a knife on him in Cincinnati. “They’d get him drunk in the middle of the day, so he comes up to me and pulls a knife out on me… says he’s going to kill us all.” Saturn filed a police report. An hour later WWE wanted them in Connecticut. That’s how Benoit, Eddie, Malenko, and Saturn showed up in the front row on Raw. The forgotten Radical just told the whole jump. Perry Saturn sat down with Chris Van Vliet and finally put the Moppy era in context. That whole “fell in love with a mop” thing wasn’t some random comedy idea. Saturn says it was punishment for the Mike Bell incident. “Pat Patterson thought I should marry a plunger, so that’s what he pitched, and somehow the plunger got turned into the mop. And the whole idea was I did that because I got hit in the head, which is what happened with Mike Bell, and this was my punishment. And I can prove it was a punishment because they never gave me any direction.” Vince wanted him to promise it would never happen again. Saturn wouldn’t lie. “Vince told me, ‘Okay, Perry, you have to tell me right now that you’re never going to do that again.’ I go, ‘Vince, I didn’t do it on purpose this time, so I can’t tell you that because I didn’t mean to do it.’” Paul Heyman had to sell it to him because they figured he’d quit. “I go, ‘Paul E, I’m not going to do that. I’m going to look like a f*cking idiot.’ He goes, ‘Perry, you have no choice.’” Saturn still owns it. He says he was wrong that night. No excuses. Perry Saturn #InsightWithCVV

They tried to write Perry Saturn off. Life tried harder. He outlasted both. One of The Radicalz went from Monday Night Raw to sleeping on the street. Perry Saturn on Insight with Chris Van Vliet “I was on TV wrestling with WWE, and eight months later or something, I was living on the street, lost my house, everything.” Then this one: “I remember thinking when I was wrestling, I didn’t know how people became homeless. I’m thinking that doesn’t happen overnight. Yeah, it kind of does before you know it.” He went from a house, a car, coming back from knee surgery… to hiding so nobody would recognize him. Shot in the neck trying to help somebody. Addiction. Streets. And the thing that kept him here was his dog putting her head in his lap. “I thought, I can’t. She needs me. And somewhere in there I figured out if I can hang on for her, maybe I can get my shit together for me.” 15 years clean. Paid-off house. Still here. That interview is a reminder that the guys we watched on TV were human the whole time. Watch the full Insight. Respect Perry Saturn. Perry Saturn #InsightWithCVV

The night after we lost Owen Hart, Steve Austin walked out, cracked a beer, and raised it anyway. No promo. No extra words. Just the rattlesnake paying respect to a guy he had every reason to stay mad at. JR said it best: “One last toast to our friend, Owen Hart. We’ll never forget you, Owen.”

“Chris Benoit was replaced by Johnny Nitro for the ECW World Championship match at Vengeance, as Benoit was not there due to personal issues, stemming from the death of his wife Nancy.” On June 25 at around 12:01 a.m. roughly 14 hours before police found the bodies an anonymous editor added this to Benoit’s Wikipedia page. The IP was traced back to a Matthew Greenberg who lived within blocks of the WWE headquarters in Stamford Connecticut. Below is the actual interrogation of the Greenberg.

“Dude, I think you guys just eulogized the murderer on TV.” - Christian Former WWE wrestler Simon Dean says he was at Christian’s house in Florida watching the Raw tribute show. After William Regal’s segment where Regal deliberately limited his comments to Benoit as a professional in the ring. He goes on to say this… “Chris Benoit is one of the most vile human beings who’s ever been in the professional wrestling industry.”

“Can you believe it.. Brian Kendrick is the current WWE champion.” - JR It’s been 18 years since THE Brian Kendrick shocked the world for just 5 minutes of WWE history. He capitalized on the chaos of the Championship Scramble to pin Jeff Hardy, becoming the interim titleholder as the clock ticked down. But because Triple H scored the ultimate pin just before time expired, Kendrick's reign was erased by the final bell. Despite living the dream for a few fleeting minutes, he isn't recognized as a WWE champion today. Brian Kendrick

Vince McMahon: "My husband has a 6-inch scar on his face..." Bobby Heenan: "She should probably be thankful he has six inches of anything." Back in the mid-80s, WWF ran a late-night talk show parody called Tuesday Night Titans. Vince McMahon can’t keep it together playing the straight-laced host reading "fan mail" to his guests, which inadvertently set up the perfect lob for Bobby "The Brain" Heenan to deliver one of the most ruthless, off-the-cuff punchlines in wrestling history. There will never be another Bobby Heenan.

“About 5:30 in the morning, I get a text and it was from Chris’ phone. It said ‘The dogs are in the enclosed pool area and the back door is open.’” 30 seconds later the same message comes through from Nancy’s phone. Chavo Guerrero on those final texts from Chris Benoit’s phone.

“I’ve trained more in the last week than Mick Foley’s trained in 30 years. While Mick was sleeping and eating cheeseburgers and M&Ms, I was in the gym.” - Hulk Hogan Mick Foley’s response to criticism from Hulk Hogan about his physical condition “It’s an insult and it’s a lie. He’s never wrestled me. If you ask The Rock, Stone Cold, Shawn Michaels if I was in shape when I wrestled them, they’d say I was in deceptively good shape.” “If Hogan had wrestled me he would’ve been saying ‘not so fast and not so hard’ because he didn’t like the contact. The reason I’m out early and he’s still around at 49 is because I put out and gave people their money’s worth. You didn’t have to apologize to your friends for watching a Mick Foley match.” One of the rawest responses ever.

Vince McMahon went on TSN's Off the Record and delivered an absolutely ruthless word-association segment right in the heat of the Monday Night Wars. Ultimate Warrior: Lunatic. Eric Bischoff: Not a nice man. Hollywood Hogan: Not as big as he thinks he is. Hulk Hogan: Same Bruno Sammartino: A confused individual probably suffering from dementia. Ric Flair: Someone who wants to perform with the greats but "unfortunately can't." Jesse Ventura: Overrated... and still is confused about his place in history. Kevin Nash: A "very fortunate individual" that someone finally saw his talent.

On Sept 28, 1998 Raw, Owen Hart hit Dan Severn with an inverted piledriver that was supposed to be a work… but he dropped him on his head for real. Severn: “I take the full impact on my head and I feel a bolt of lightning run down my spine and then run down my right leg… Can I feel my fingers? Can I feel my toes?” Owen whispered “squeeze my hand if you’re okay.” Dan didn’t. He wasn’t sure. Once past the curtain, The Beast went right after him. Second time Owen botched that move in a year.

Lil Yachty sat down with Chris Van Vliet today and the music nerd in him came out. “Bro, my ringtone is JBL’s theme song… that’s one of my favorite Jim Johnston theme songs. From the second, literally one second into the theme song, you knew exactly who it was.” Evolution is his favorite faction theme of all time. Also giving love to Edge, old Randy Orton, Rated-RKO, Gangrel, Shamrock & Blackman. He talks Jim Johnston, how similar making records is to building a wrestler, and which themes actually hit him as a kid. CM Punk was his guy growing up, so you already know that section’s going to be good. Dude lasted 5 minutes with Corbin at SNME, woke up feeling like he wrestled for 20 years, and still talking themes like a lifer. CONCRETE BOY BOAT^ #InsightWithCVV

October 4, 1999, on WCW Monday Nitro at Kemper Arena in Kansas City, Missouri. Owen Hart tragically fell in the same building on May 23, 1999, during WWF’s Over the Edge PPV. Bret requested the match with fellow Hart Dungeon graduate Chris Benoit as a tribute. WCW gave them a long time-slot for a technical exhibition. Afterward they embraced in the ring. It is widely regarded as one of the most emotional and well-worked matches of late-era WCW Nitro.

Chris Benoit vs. Triple H main evented the Eddie Guerrero Tribute show. Benoit walked out already crying. Fought like something was tearing out of him the whole match. Rolling Germans, Crossface attempts, then that little modified cradle for the pin. After the bell they hugged in the middle of the ring and both pointed to the sky. Dean Malenko came down to stand with him. One of the rawest, most human things WWE ever put on television.
