Think your e-bike is actually an e-bike? 🚲⚡ Officer Donaldson recently stopped a rider after observing what appeared to be an electric-assisted bicycle traveling more than 30 mph in the bike lane without the rider pedaling. During the stop, the rider explained the bike could be adjusted to different power settings, including one that allowed it to operate without pedaling. Under Washington law, those features can change how the vehicle is classified and what rules apply. As more high-powered e-bikes hit the road, it’s important to know the difference. Not every bike marketed as an e-bike meets Washington’s legal definition of one, and some may actually be classified as electric motorcycles with different licensing, registration and equipment requirements. If you own an e-bike, take a few minutes to make sure you know the rules before you ride. To view an accessible, audio described version of this video, visit: #vanpoliceusa #bodycams

🚔 VPD officers recently responded to assist a Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife officer who was in foot pursuit with a suspect wanted on multiple warrants, including a felony warrant for Assault in the Third Degree. After the suspect ran into a nearby field, officers used a combination of resources, including an Uncrewed Aircraft System (UAS), to search the area. The suspect was quickly located hiding in the foliage and taken into custody without further incident. Great multi-agency teamwork! 🤝👏 To view an accessible, audio-described version of this video, visit: #vanpoliceusa #vancouver #police #bodycam #drone
