I love sparring with legislators, and this exchange is no different. Rep. Parkinson missed the mark by disregarding my story, insinuating I’m being used, and reducing my experience and involvement to the color of my skin. This is what I experienced firsthand: I struggled and begged my mother not to send me to the school I was zoned for. School choice saved my life, and regardless of what the naysayers come up with, I will continue to fight to make sure my voice is heard. I look forward to our next conversation, Rep. Parkinson. I’m not going anywhere!
