I love sparring with legislators, and this exchange is no different. Rep. Parkinson missed the mark by disregarding my story, insinuating I’m being used, and reducing my experience and involvement to the color of my skin. This is what I experienced firsthand: I struggled and begged my mother not...

I was on the front row and the other side of the room from you and could not believe my ears when he insinuated that. Great job today btw.

You gotta find the so-called data he referenced. Because there is no universe in which Columbus City, Cleveland, Cincy, Akron, Toledo schools are outperforming their private counterparts. Maybe MAYBE charters? But I’d be skeptical even about that.

I’m very curious as well. We BOTH know how those schools are performing! I’ll going on the hunt for it tomorrow.

I’m trying to find it. The TN site usually has on demand videos of the hearings. If I find it, I’ll be sure to send your way. My grandparents live in Akron so I spent ALOT of time there!

Wow! A much more dignified response than what I would have come up with if I had just had my humanity so publicly disrespected. Well done!

“I experienced multiple timelines.” “My whole world shattered for two hours.” “And it was the most scary, disturbing experience in my life.” This is one of the wildest stories I’ve ever heard. One night, in the middle of the night, Hollywood producer Brent Friedman’s entire sense of reality broke. He just shared this mind-blowing story with Jesse Michels: “I’m at an Airbnb in LA one night.” “My day job is I’m working on a Call of Duty game.” “And I get a chime on my Slack.” “It’s like 1:00 in the morning.” “So I read the question, and … answer it.” Then he heard another chime. “The person’s like: what you said makes no sense.” “I’m like, okay, maybe I’m tired. Let me read what I said.” But what he saw on the screen was a totally different message than the one he had just sent. “So I correct it and I send it back.” “And then … he’s like: now you’re really confusing me.” “I look and I read it again, and … his original message is different now.” “I’m like, okay, this is weird … am I hallucinating?” So he went to a different Slack conversation with his creative director. They talked “all the time.” But now, he doesn’t even recognize the conversation. “We’re talking about things I’ve never heard of before.” “This is not the reality that I am living in.” “Now, I’m starting to get a little shaky.” He starts to wonder if he’s having a psychotic break. “Or I’m thinking to myself, do people get Alzheimer’s, like, overnight?” “What is happening to me?” “So I go to a different device.” “I go to my phone.” “I’m thinking, I’m gonna look at the texts from my wife.” “And we’re talking about a dog we don’t have.” “I’m starting to really freak out now.” “I’m checking, like, my heart’s fine.” “I’m pinching myself, I’m not dreaming.” “I’m doing all these checks just to make sure this is really happening.” “And it really is.” “And every time I go back to the computer, it keeps changing.” “So I’m like … I’m gonna shut down all my devices, I’m going to just take a shower.” “And I’m going to hope and pray that … when I wake up in the morning, everything will be reset.” When he’s in the shower, he hears a voice say one word: “Timelines.” After that, he went to sleep. The next morning, he opened his devices again with a sense of dread. “I boot everything up, and everything is back to normal—but only 99%.” “There’s a few weird little references that feel like artifacts left over from another timeline.” Jesse Michels American Alchemy Brent Friedman Bryce Zabel
