Creators have questions about how longer Shorts — up to 3-minute Shorts — are rolling out, and here’s the timeline: 📆 Phase 1, this week: Giving creators a precise date (October 15, 2024) for when any square to vertical video, 3 min or under, uploaded to YouTube would stop being treated as a long-form and, going forward, be treated as a Short. No surprises. 📲 Phase 2, by end of next week: Longer Shorts will begin to show up and get recommended in the Shorts feed. (It’ll take a little longer, maybe several weeks, for the feed algorithm to start balancing shorter and longer Shorts recommendations) 🩳 Phase 3, by end of November: Longer Shorts will move to the Shorts Shelf in the Subscription Feed and to the Shorts tab on Channel pages (And yes, that’s for any longer Short uploaded after the October 15 start date) ✨ Phase 4, by early 2025: Shorts creation tools will be updated to support up to 3-minute Shorts, so in addition to uploading them, you’ll be able to make them right in the YouTube app as well And we’ll be keeping you updated on every step — and any changes in timeline — along the way!

YouTube CEO Neal Mohan has just posted his 4 big bets for 2025, and here are some huge highlights! 📺 TV has surpassed mobile and is now the primary device for YouTube viewing in the US 🎤 YouTube is now the most frequently used service for listening to podcasts in the U.S. 🧰 This year we’ll roll out more tools to support podcasters, improve monetization for creators, and make it even easier to discover podcasts. 💛 Last year YouTube saw more than a 40% increase in channel memberships 👀 According to Nielsen, YouTube has been #1 in streaming watchtime in the U.S. for two years 🗣️ For videos with dubbed audio, more than 40% of the total watch time comes from viewers choosing to listen in a dubbed language. 🤝 Later this month, we’ll make auto dubbing available to all creators in the YouTube Partner Program Watch for more!

Shorts creators! YouTube is making an update to how views are counted in the feed. Here’s Todd Sherman with the details: ⏰ Starting 3/31 Shorts views will be counted instantly when your Short starts to play or starts to loop 📈 Creators have been asking for this, in part, to make it easier to understand performance, especially cross-platforms 🤝 YouTube Partner Program and revenue sharing will be based on “engaged views” — which is the new name for the previous definition of a view (watched for a minimum amount of time) 📊 Creators can see both views and engaged views in YouTube Analytics

Set sort comments by newest as default in YouTube Studio: - Open YouTube Studio on Desktop or Mobile - Click on Community If you’re on Mobile, tap on View All - Click on Sort By - Click on Newest Now, if you want to set that as default: - Click on the Filters icon - Click on Set current filters as your default
