“Manshiya” was originally a neighborhood called “Neve Shalom” in Hebrew, built as the first Jewish neighborhood outside of Jaffa’s city walls in 1890. It was called both names, until the pogroms of 1929, when many Jews fled massacres. Then, the new Arab area started to become recognized as “Manshiya”. In 1936, the majority of the remaining Jews had to flee too. The Eztel Museum is a great example: a house built by Jews in 1900, switching to Arab ownership in 1914, but still housing Jewish tenants until 1936 when they were forced out too.

“It” didn’t begin in 1948. Jews lived in their homeland - the land of Israel, nonstop for over 3,000 years. It was not “peaceful” before 1948 or before modern Zionism. Jews in the land of Israel were attacked by the occupiers long before. In 1517, 1660, 1834, 1838, 1886, 1908, 1920-1921, 1929, 1936-1939. Violence against Jews cannot be justified as a reaction to Zionism. Zionism IS the solution for violence against Jews. When we were “guests” in the diaspora, we were attacked, when our land was occupied, we were attacked. The safest era for Jews in now - when we’re independent on our land - ask the Jews of Safed.

3 months before “Black September” in 1970, an article in the life magazine showed the Palestinian Child Soldiers that were trained to bomb Israeli school buses, kidnap airplanes, and eventually clash with the Jordanians in an attempt to take over Jordan (until they were pushed to Lebanon were they did the exact same thing leading to the first Lebanon war).

The “Nakba” didn’t begin in 1948. The “Nakba” - a term originally coined by Constantin Zureiq to describe the “catastrophe” of 7 Arab armies failing to “erase Zionism”, didn’t begin with the official Arab invasion into the land of Israel on May 1948. It began on November 30th 1947 - one day after the United Nations voted on the partition plan for creating a Jewish state on Jewish majority owned land, and an Arab state on Arab majority owned land. A solution that would have required no one to leave their homes. Instead of accepting the plan and establishing an Arab state, the Palestinian Arab leadership Initiated a war - beginning with the Fajja bus attacks on November 30th 1947, the attacks on Mamilla shopping center on December 2nd 1947, the attack on Kibbutz Efal on December 4th, and the large scale attack of the “Holy Jihad Army” on Hatikvah Neighborhood in Tel-Aviv on December 8th 1947. The road to Jerusalem was blocked in an attempt to starve over 100,000 Jewish residents there. And although the neighboring Arab states declared they will not enter until May 1948 (when the British would leave). However, they established the “Arab Liberation Army” which invaded on February 1948, Egypt sent in the Muslim brotherhood “volunteers” to attack Kfar Darom, and Jordanian Arab Legion attacked Gush Etzion both on April 1948. So no, “it” didn’t begin in May 1948.
