I wish we would stop demonising #Ragwort. This incredible #wildflower was absolutely covered in insects today, including #bees, hoverflies, flies and #butterflies, and this is just a small percentage of the #wildlife that relies on it. The fact is, this plant is not harmful to animals, unless fed within a bale of already processed hay.

The Hazel Dormouse is a protected species by law. It is an OFFENCE to โDamage or destroy its breeding site or resting place.โ Yet Bristol City Council are complicit in letting Redrow contractors COMPLETELY OBLITERATE a known site for this endangered species!๐ก

1/2 This is absolutely disgusting ๐กRochford DC have allowed the killing of this majestic 150y/o Save the Holt Farm Oak Tree tree to allow kevin to build 600 houses. This unnecessary wanton destruction was right outside Holt Farm Junior Sch. ๐ Abhorrent.

To everyone that continues to condemn one of the BEST wildflowers there is for wildlife at this time of year. To everyone that tells you to remove this โpoisonousโ plant from your land/garden as it kills livestock . . . donโt! ๐Cows eating AROUND #ragwort. What a plant ๐

After many days of hard work, several tonnes of boulders & a stone bridge, my latest habitat creation project is complete - 20metres of stream with 2x built-in #wildlifeponds, planted with native #wildflowers. Just in time to provide water for our birds in this heat.๐ง#Derbyshire

This is absolutely AMAZING! ๐ Only in slow motion can you appreciate this female Hairy-footed flower bee collecting pollen from these Cowslips on her proboscis. She then wipes it off with her front legs and attaches it to her hind legs, before storing it in her nest cell! โค๏ธ๐

As a boy, I was fascinated by the unique head feathers & bill of a Hoopoe. They were like mythical creatures which I had to wait over 30 years to see in real life. So today, when one landed in front of me and preened itself for 2 minutes, I was made up! ๐ #Egypt

Something rather special is about to start in #London - the creation of a 1000sqm wetland including a #wildlifepond & #wildflowermeadows, all thanks to Friends of Clapham Common & Lambeth Council. Feeling very fortunate to have been asked to create this publicly accessible space ๐

A friend showed me this patch of Bluebells in an ancient wood & WOW! ๐ The haze of colour when you get down level with them is unreal! The UK has up to 50% of the ๐โs population of #bluebells. A great source of food for many insects & all the more reason to protect them ๐๐ณ
