Ok, I’m going to put it out there. IMO, Lesser/Common Knapweed is THE BEST all round #wildflower for high summer in terms of longevity of flower, abundance of insects that will use it for #nectar/pollen, drought tolerance & ability to grow in many soil types & light conditions 🐝 This one clump had at least 5 Gatekeepers, 2/3 Meadow Browns and many species of Bees all visiting at once! 😍💚

I wish we would stop demonising #Ragwort. This incredible #wildflower was absolutely covered in insects today, including #bees, hoverflies, flies and #butterflies, and this is just a small percentage of the #wildlife that relies on it. The fact is, this plant is not harmful to animals, unless fed within a bale of already processed hay.

After many days of hard work, several tonnes of boulders & a stone bridge, my latest habitat creation project is complete - 20metres of stream with 2x built-in #wildlifeponds, planted with native #wildflowers. Just in time to provide water for our birds in this heat.💧#Derbyshire

This is absolutely AMAZING! 😍 Only in slow motion can you appreciate this female Hairy-footed flower bee collecting pollen from these Cowslips on her proboscis. She then wipes it off with her front legs and attaches it to her hind legs, before storing it in her nest cell! ❤️🐝

A friend showed me this patch of Bluebells in an ancient wood & WOW! 😍 The haze of colour when you get down level with them is unreal! The UK has up to 50% of the 🌍’s population of #bluebells. A great source of food for many insects & all the more reason to protect them 🐝🌳
