Your foul balls are more than just timing. They’re angles. You can be “on time” and still hook or slice it. Where your foul balls go tells you the shapes you’re creating into impact. Study the foul balls. They’re talking to you.

Alex Bregman had 12 home runs in the entire first half of 2023. Then he went on a quick tear, 5 homers in 12 days. Sometimes a hitter just finds a spark, and when they do, the game starts moving in a different rhythm.

McGwire said it best—lower half stability is everything. Old school coaches called it staying balanced. You can train it: hold the ground, decel, stability and bracing. We break this down in depth in our curriculum!

People ask why hitters don’t hit for the same averages anymore. Go watch the game they used to face. This is an All-Star Game, and an All-Star pitcher isn’t even breaking 90. Today, you’ll see better stuff in college. The game has changed.

Throwing implements like our Farm Logs can help clean up sequencing and allow natural movement solutions to emerge. Sometimes, that includes a scissor pattern. Not every hitter needs one, but if the body finds it naturally, be careful coaching it away.

Everyone’s got a theory on Tatis. Steroids. Timing. Approach. Confidence. But if bat speed is still up… and exit velo is still high… why isn’t the power showing up? That’s where this gets interesting. I think there’s another layer people are missing. Watch the video.

The Kickback/Scissor is still one of the most misunderstood movement strategies in hitting. More accepted today than when I started, but how many had it coached out? It creates space, keeps your front side on the ball, holds direction, and lets you remove slack late to crack the

Power 4 hitter developing a process, maturing as a hitter, and not just focused on quantity. More reps at this point in your career have diminishing returns. It’s not just about working, but how you’re working.

Mookie stops the hitter: “Why swing harder?” Young hitters think more effort = more damage. But your best performance usually isn’t max effort. It’s the effort level where your technique stays clean, you square balls consistently, and the barrel keeps good direction.

I love this perspective. Everyone wants to start hot, but some players end hot. Some players get hot in the middle, some players play pretty consistent all year. That’s why it’s a team game. Keep your head down. Keep playing.

One of the pros I trained would hit 82-83 off tee, 90-93 front toss, 95 in BP—then go hit 109 off live velo. He wasn’t chasing EV like an arcade score. He was chasing moves that hold up under game pressure. EV was feedback, not the goal.

CHANGE OF PLANS Yesterday I was talking with my friend Donnie Ecker, and he reminded me of the story of how we met. It started with one thing, a simple invite. And that invite changed the trajectory of my life. As I’ve been praying about this Farm Retreat, that story stuck with me. God put something heavy on my heart: This retreat was supposed to be $1,500 to attend… But I’m inviting 12 people to come for free. You’ll still cover your travel, food, and lodging, but if you can get here, you won’t pay us a dime for the retreat itself. For four days, you’ll join us for the first section of our Science of Hitting curriculum in the mornings, take part in daily group activities, and shadow our team in the afternoons. We’ll learn together. We’ll train together. We’ll grow together. Here’s how to enter: 1. To enter: head to my Instagram (Joey Cunha) and share my post to your IG Story. That’s it. No tagging, no extra steps. 2. Or You can retweet this post. Or shoot. Do both and double your chances of being picked. 👊🏼 By the end of next week, we’ll randomly select 12 people to join us. 12 strangers. 12 stories. 12 lives that could be changed by one invite.

Weight & Pressure are different, but they often get used interchangeably. When you shift your pressure, you can be shifting your weight, but that’s not what we want during our forward move. We want our weight to stay back, while our pressure shifts forward.
