Gautam Gambhir will always remain the most misunderstood guy ever. Ravi Shastri, under whom India lost the 2018 tours of South Africa and England 6–1 combined, still claimed this was “the best travelling Indian team in the last 15–20 years.” All while completely forgetting or simply refusing to acknowledge that an Indian team featuring Sachin, Dravid, Laxman, Kumble, Zaheer and many more had already: ✅ Won in England (2007) ✅ Won in New Zealand (2009) ✅ Drawn a historic series in South Africa (2010–11) ❌ Not giving credit. ❌ Not acknowledging history. 😏 Conveniently overlooking what earlier teams had achieved. In fact, Gautam Gambhir was responding to a journalist’s question (Vimal Kumar). Yes, Gauti could’ve phrased it better but the point remains: Shastri’s remarks were ignorant of the fact that India had been performing well overseas long before 2018. His comments before the Border–Gavaskar win were not just exaggerated — they were beyond understanding and utterly disrespectful to the legends who laid the foundation.
