About that Check Engine light… I will say that all these problems started shortly after I possibly got struck by lightning. I was pulled off on the side of the road doing a radio interview about storm chasing with 680 CJOB out of Winnipeg, home of the Jets,l. I hadn’t seen a damn bolt of lightning all day. Right in the middle of answering a question about the movie Twister, BAM out of nowhere a flash and instant crack of the loudest thunder I’ve ever heard. If it didn’t hit me it was very close. I shit you not this all happened.

Greenfield, Iowa was devastated by what will no doubt be a major tornado when rated. Here is that tornado when it first formed southwest of Villisca, Iowa. After narrowly escaping the fast moving , large, powerful twister, I became stuck in the mud as it passed just to my north, toppling trees and damaging a home. Video taken at 2:50 PM CT. #iawx #tornado

While the Wellfleet Nebraska tornado of 2025 had many extremely photogenic and memorable moments, perhaps my fondest memory was shortly after saving the semi-truck drivers life by stopping him from driving into the tornado, as the tornado nearly died but roared back to life. While not its most photogenic moment, I was yards away from the vortex, hearing its hiss as it spun the sand of the Nebraska sandhills into a slurry. Watching the video again, I feel like I'm back there, hunkered behind my vehicle to protect me from flying debris or hail. As the tornado came back to life I laughed because I had already spent such a long time dancing with this twister, I couldn't believe the show might go on. And it even got BETTER! See the full 35 minutes of RAW footage of this chase and another 85 minutes of other tornadoes of 2025 in my latest video. Link in comments.
