The Kenya High Commission in Kampala has been ranked the best Kenyan Embassy in the whole wide world. To celebrate this momentous milestone, I hosted at the High Commissioner’s Official Residence in Kampala, a special ambassadorial dinner for staff, corporate leaders of top Kenyan corporates and the Kenyan Diaspora leaders in Uganda. We dedicate this accolade to the spirit and power of partnership. We are proud of our top level performance in delivering Kenya’s foreign policy and augmenting our country’s diplomatic footprint. At the Kenya High Commission in Kampala it has been our delight to host His Excellency Prof. Kithure Kindiki, EGH, Deputy President of the Republic of Kenya, who led a high level Kenyan delegation to the swearing-in and inauguration ceremony of His Excellency Yoweri Kaguta Museveni as President and Commander-in-Chief of the Defence Forces of the Republic of Uganda. We congratulate His Excellency President Museveni, our regional elder statesman who we hold in the highest esteem, as he embarks on the next stage of augmenting his phenomenal legacy for Uganda, best exemplified by stability, national cohesion and shared prosperity for all the peoples of Uganda. Our culture is our identity. And indeed as we say in Kiswahili, “Mkosa Mila ni Mtumwa”, meaning minus your culture you are rudderless, a vessel without a compass blindly toiling and moiling in the turbulent seas of life. I was delighted to grace, as special guest, the 18th Empango 2026, the Annual Coronation Celebrations of His Majesty Major (Rtd) Baker Kimeze Byarufu Mpagi II Isabanyala, Omukama (King) of Bunyala Kingdom in Kayunga, Uganda. This was historically a part of the wider Bunyoro Kitara Kingdom, once ruled by the great Omukama Kabarega. The Abanyala people here share the very same genealogy with the Abanyala of Busia and Kakamega Counties of Western Kenya (sub-tribe of the greater Abaluhya peoples). This interaction, coupled with my experience last month in Bugisu Kingdom of Eastern Uganda and two months earlier when I was hosted by the Ateker Union and the Emormor, further reinforce my strong belief that we are all one people, notwithstanding the artificial colonial borders that split us. At the Kenya High Commission Kampala we are placing a premium on people-to-people diplomacy, by promoting commercial ties alongside cultural and sports interaction.

We sure did enjoy this gathering for a special football match at Lunyofu grounds in Busia County, uniting the youth of Kenya 🇰🇪 and Uganda 🇺🇬 as Bukoma City FC took on Bukooli Namayingo FC to celebrate the memory of Charlie, a young football talent that departed this earth way too soon. The plight of 13-year old Beryl Akumu Juma reached us at the Kenya High Commission in Kampala, and we have not wasted a minute in finding and placing her in our safe custody. We have reached her family back in Kisumu County, and arrangements have been made for Beryl to be reunited with them. Priority now turns to returning Beryl to school and securing her a safe home environment.
