Today Premier Doug Ford Doug Ford said one day Alberta might have to give approval for a federal tax on oil and gas headed from Alberta to the United States. I understand our new Prime Minister Mark Carney has mused about the same thing. Let me be clear… Alberta will never agree to such an absurd and self destructive idea. It’s not an option. I’m not going to agree to do something that will cost hundreds of thousands of Albertans (and Canadians) their jobs almost overnight. That would be like placing export tariffs on Ontario auto parts. Also a bad idea. There are many effective ways that Canada and Alberta can work together to pressure the U.S. President to change course on tariffs - THAT is not one of them… period.

I know the last decade under the Trudeau-NDP was difficult and Albertans have every right to be frustrated. But thanks to the leadership of Albertans, the tide is finally turning in our favour. The vast majority of Trudeau’s ‘9 bad laws’ have been scrapped or reformed. Investment has begun flowing back into energy, tech, and agriculture, and we are creating more jobs than the rest of the country combined. Now is not the time to give up hope. Now is the time to double down and help Canada reach its incredible potential. With Alberta leading the way, we can turn Canada into one of the most strong and prosperous economies in the world. On October 19, I will be voting for Alberta to remain in Canada. I hope you will join me in doing so.

Alberta is going to double our energy production in the coming years. The Northern Shield Energy Corridor, is the latest major pipeline project announced in recent months. It builds on the momentum we’re seeing not just with the West Coast Oil Pipeline, but also Enbridge, Trans mountain, South Bow, Pembina, and Atco who are all advancing other pipeline expansions and new projects. This shouldn’t even be up for debate. Don Cherry is a Canadian icon, a hockey legend and is loved by Albertans. He’s not just one of the greats, his word and opinion about our national sport is still treated as hockey gospel by millions of Canadians. His contributions to Canadian sport and culture are undeniable, and the work he did to honour our nation’s veterans was an invaluable contribution to our country. I was grateful to meet a few of these hardworking young Albertans at Home Hardware in Cardston recently. In response, Alberta's UCP government launched the Alberta Youth Employment Incentive to help youth enter the workforce. This program will enable approximately 3,500 businesses hire up to 8,750 youth in Alberta. Learn more:
