I spent some time with the Minister of Education of #Somalia today; it's Maghreb time, and he's inspecting a 1200-seater auditorium built by his ministry. Before this tour he was putting final touches on Somali Studies 35th Congress, which will bring the who's who in Somali academia around the world to #Mogadishu. Ethiopian state media aired an interview with Matthew Bryden, referring to Somalia as a failed state and Somaliland as a stable democratic country. It looks like Matt and Rashid Abdi are working for Abiy Ahmed's government, but Somalia is far from failing, regardless of some resentful IIGU SHUB group with vendetta against the Somali government.

2007 I asked Prof. Ahmed Samatar what advice he'd give to the Fadhi ku dirir Somali youth in the diaspora who spend their valuable time arguing about tribes rather than pursuing higher education. I didn't understand why they were wasting their precious time. 17 years later, I still don't understand why they spend hours and hours on X Spaces promoting hatred and inciting tribal violence in Somalia from the comfort of their peaceful homes in Seattle, Minneapolis, London, or Toronto. Take Prof. Samatar's advice and leave Siyaasadda Fadhi ku dirirka ee bullaacadda ah.
