So I beat Halo 2 and it’s…. a nearly perfect sequel. The world building here is top notch, dual wielding feels great, vehicles control better and the Arbiter is an amazing protagonist. The only thing keeping it back is how dry Chief’s story is in comparison. 9/10

Amazing moment with an unexpected teamup but it does make you wonder, how the hell does that work? Hunters turning on the prophets is weird especially since they’re a hive of worms in suits iirc. I guess Gary was in charge of the suit that day and was an atheist.

I think the best way to describe my issues with Halo 3 is that Chief has essentially no relationships with most of the cast outside of Cortana….. and she’s basically not around for 90% of the game to talk with him.

In terms of new enemies, the drones in Halo 2 are probably the most boring covenant race. We just don’t really get a lot of info or intrigue around them compared to the other new race in the Brutes. I think one should have been an ally or just had some relevance to the plot.

So I beat Halo 3 and it’s… the weakest of the trilogy for me. I think the gameplay is great with good level pacing, new toys, and the Flood is at their gameplay peak. It’s the story that weighs this down for me. I don’t think any of it ends in a satisfying way anywhere. 8/10.

Tartarus is also another great villain in a game tha has so many. Despite his race being called brutes, he’s more than willing to hear the Arbiter out and even for one slight second considers it but he’s just too far in to change.

Playing Halo 1 to completion for the first time was kinda crazy because the main villain is…. Guilty Spark. He’s the one who almost destroys everything multiple times yet he’s only doing his job and trying to save as much as possible. I love the little chud cube.

Halo 2 manages to introduce 3 new villains and their personalities in a single cutscene. The young reckless Regret, the older Mercy, and the middle/puppet master of the trio in Truth. It’s such a hard thing to do in your second game but this is just perfect.

So I beat Castlevania and… it’s very very dated. I respect it for the franchise and whole genre it started, the multiple weapons are cool, but the difficulty is just so obnoxious with trial and error gameplay galore and some of the most bipolar difficulty for bosses ever. 5/10

So I beat Halo 4 and it’s…. fine. I like the new weapons and most of the new enemies as well as the more personal story with Chief and Cortana but the watcher enemy type, level pacing, and Didact are handled rather poorly in comparison. 7/10.

I gotta say it, I think the Prophet of Truth in Halo 3 is a massive downgrade from the previous entry. The smart puppet master replaced with the most generic lunatic cult leader was an awful idea and it doesn’t even feel like a proper progression of the character from Halo 2.

So I beat Halo: Reach and it’s…. a pretty good sendoff for Bungie! The story here is great and manages to use lines from the past games to make a really epic tragedy with some awesome set pieces. My only complaint really is a lack of new enemies. 9/10.

I like the different times factions help one another in this franchise but Gravymind baby….. it’s two hallways, you can clear that yourself you lazy bum. This teamup lasts so briefly it makes you wonder what the point was.
