According to the Chief of the Defence Staff of the French Armed Forces (Chef d'état-major des armées), the Franco-Italian SAMP/T systems deployed in Ukraine are capable of intercepting upgraded Russian attacks, a task with which the US Patriot systems are struggling. He, therefore, concluded that the SAMP/T outperforms the Patriot.

With the transfer of the first batch of Mirage 2000-5Fs, the Ukrainian Air Force will have more pilots to rain down Safran’s ITAR-free AASM Hammer-250 bombs, which are insensitive to jamming, on the Russian aggressor. .EOS Technologie’s loitering munition automatic strike test was conducted in the presence of representatives from the French Defence Innovation Agency and the French Armed Forces. An inert training warhead from KNDS France was used. The Veloce 330 is a high-velocity (400 km/h) anti-armour loitering munition with a range of 100 km. The Rodeur 330 is a long-endurance (5 hours) anti-armour loitering munition with a range of 500 km. The first deliveries to the French Armed Forces have just taken place. In early 2026, this loitering ammunition will also be used as a Shahed interceptor.

The German HK 416 F has replaced the FAMAS as the riffle gun of the French Army and I have no problem with that. It remains a European product. There may be a misunderstanding about what some people think some of us think about the concept of European defence. On the one hand, there are frustrated French people who think that everyone should only buy French and not elsewhere. Frankly, they need to get over it - European partners have no moral obligation to buy anything from France. On the other hand, there are foreigners who can not accept that some countries buy French arms. They tend to think that our concept of buying European means buying French. I am sorry to disappoint them, but this is not the case. Our good friend Antoine’s tweet is a good example. Those people will only focus on and react to his first tweet, while ignoring the other one where he suggests buying arms from European partners. Speaking for myself, I could not care less if a European chooses the German IRIS-T SLM over the French VL MICA. I may be upset, but it will not prevent me from eating and sleeping at night, because at the end of the day a European solution will be chosen. I will encourage the European partners to buy the German Leopard 2 instead of the American M1 Abrams. I think you get the idea.
