Customs, IGI Airport Date: 06.08.2026 Operation: AIU, IGI Airport, New Delhi Seizure: 869.5 grams gold The customs officers of IGI airport, New Delhi, have booked a case of gold smuggling. On the basis of intelligence developed and passenger profiling, one passenger travelling from Jeddah to Mumbai and further to Delhi by flight no. 6E-6133 dated 06.08.2026 was intercepted at Terminal-1, IGI Airport, New Delhi. The passenger was carrying household goods along with an electric scooter as part of his checked-in baggage. During X-ray screening of the hand baggage and checked-in baggage, suspicious images were noticed. Although the passenger did not trigger any alarm while passing through the Door Frame Metal Detector (DFMD), a detailed examination of the electric scooter was carried out. The examination led to the recovery of nineteen (19) cut pieces of 24-carat gold weighing 869.5 grams (net weight), ingeniously concealed inside the solid core of the tyres of the electric scooter in an attempt to evade Customs detection. Customs, IGI Airport Date: 02.08.2026 Operation: AIU, IGI Airport, New Delhi Seizure: 2759 grams Hydroponic weed (Ganja) The customs officers of IGI airport, New Delhi, have booked a case of smuggling green colour NDPS substance suspected ganja/marijuana. On the basis of APIS profiling one passenger travelling from phuket to Delhi by Flight No. AI 2377 dated 02.08.2026 was intercepted after crossing Customs Green Channel. On X-ray screening of baggage some suspicious images were noticed. Further on examination of baggage, 4 vacuum-sealed packets containing a green-coloured substance, suspected to be hydroponic weed (ganja), having total weight of 2759 grams (including packing material) recovered. Accordingly, the passenger has been placed under arrest under section 43(b) of NDPS Act, 1985, green colour substance suspected to be ganja/marijuana has been seized along with concealing material and packaging under section 43(a) of NDPS act, 1985. #DelhiCustomsAtWork@IGI Customs, IGI Airport Date: 09.12.2025 Operation: AIU, IGI Airport, New Delhi Seizure: 27,74,100/-(€ 23,750 & US $3,500) Currency The customs officers of IGI Airport, New Delhi have seized foreign currency i.e. € 23,750 & US $3,500- having total value of INR 27,74,100/- (💰Rupees Twenty Seven Lakhs Seventy Four Thousand One Hundred Only) from one turkey national passenger intending to depart to Istanbul on Flight No. 6E-011 dated 09.12.2025 from Terminal 3, IGI Airport, New Delhi. Based of random referral, the passenger was intercepted by the Customs Officers. Personal & baggage checks led to recovery of the concealed foreign currency. The recovered currency notes were discreetly placed and concealed inside the pages of books kept in the check-in baggage, thereby attempting to evade detection during standard security checks. The passenger admitted that the currency was meant to be smuggled abroad. 🔒The said currency has been seized under Section 110 of the Customs Act, 1962. Further investigation is underway. Customs, IGI Airport Date: 07.06.2026 Operation: AIU, IGI Airport, New Delhi Seizure: 15.38 Kg Hydroponic weed/Ganja Customs Foils Major Hydroponic Weed Smuggling Attempt at IGI Airport; 15.38 Kg Narcotics Concealed Inside Geysers Seized Based on profiling and specific intelligence, Customs officers at IGI Airport, New Delhi, successfully detected and thwarted an attempt to smuggle a large quantity of narcotic substance into India. Two passengers arriving from Kuala Lumpur by Flight No. D7-182 on 07.06.2026 were intercepted after crossing the Green Channel. During surveillance and examination, officers observed that the passengers were carrying two brand-new geysers in addition to their checked-in baggage. During sustained interrogation and scrutiny of the suspects' mobile phone communications, officers developed a strong suspicion regarding the contents of the geysers. The appliances were therefore subjected X-ray examination, which indicated the possibility of concealed material hidden within their internal structure. Subsequent dismantling of both geysers led to the exposure of a highly sophisticated concealment mechanism. Customs officers recovered 145 vacuum-sealed packets ingeniously concealed inside the appliances. Examination of the recovered packets revealed a green leafy substance suspected to be Hydroponic Weed (Ganja). The total gross weight of the recovered narcotic substance was found to be 15.38 kilograms. The estimated illicit market value of the seized contraband is approximately ₹5.38 crore. The recovered narcotic substance has been seized under the provisions of the NDPS Act, 1985, and both passengers have been placed under arrest. Further investigation is underway .CBIC Delhi Customs

Date: 13.5.2026 Ops: AIU, IGI Airport, New Delhi Gold: 233.5 & 117 Grams When it comes to gold smuggling, smugglers continuously devise innovative concealment methods to evade detection. With the surge in international prices of the precious yellow metal, attempts to smuggle gold into India have become increasingly lucrative. However, Delhi Airport Customs remains vigilant and proactive in countering such attempts. On 13.05.2026, Customs officers at IGI Airport, New Delhi intercepted two Indian male passengers arriving from Jeddah by flight no. SV-756 and Doha by flight no. 6E-1308 after they crossed the Green Channel. During detailed examination, Customs officers unearthed an ingenious modus operandi wherein water bottles had been specially modified with fake bottoms concealing circular pieces of raw gold coated with silver colour and meticulously crafted to fit inside, making detection extremely difficult during routine checks. The alertness and professional acumen of Customs officers led to recovery and seizure of 233.5 grams and 117 grams of gold respectively. Though the quantity seized was comparatively small, the case is significant for the novel concealment methodology detected and exposed by Delhi Airport Customs. CBIC Delhi Customs

Customs, IGI Airport Date: 23.02.2026 Operation: AIU, IGI Airport, New Delhi Seizure: 23936 grams ganja/marijuana The Customs Officers at Indira Gandhi International Airport, New Delhi, have seized 23.936 kilograms of green-coloured narcotic substance suspected to be Ganja/Marijuana from two Indian passengers arriving from Krabi. Both passengers arrived at Terminal-3 on 22.02.2026 by Flight No. 6E-1070 from Krabi. Based on profiling, they were intercepted at the Green Channel and their baggage was subjected to X-ray screening and detailed examination. During the search, Customs officers recovered a total of 14 polythene pouches containing the suspected narcotic substance — 08 packets concealed in a grey and yellow trolley bag and 06 packets concealed in a dark green and white trolley bag. The recovered substance weighed 23,936 grams (net weight). Preliminary diagnostic testing indicated the substance to be Ganja/Marijuana. The estimated value of the seized narcotics in the illicit market is approximately ₹23.936 crore. The passengers have been arrested under the provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985. The seized contraband and packing materials have been taken into custody. Golden Dates 🌴: Customs Seizes 172g Gold Concealed in Dates at IGI Airport Date: 26.02.2025 (Day Shift) Ops: AIU, IGI Airport, New Delhi Based on spot profiling, Customs officers at IGI Airport, New Delhi, intercepted one Indian male passenger aged 56 arriving from Jeddah to Delhi on flight SV-756 on 26.02.2025 at the exit of the Green Channel. During the X-ray scan of the baggage, suspicious images were noticed. Additionally, when the passenger passed through the Door Frame Metal Detector (DFMD), a strong beep sound was heard. Further examination of the baggage led to the recovery of assorted yellow metal cut pieces and a chain, all believed to be gold, totaling 172.00 grams, concealed inside dates. 📢 Further investigation is underway.
