In 1984, NASA and the FAA deliberately crashed a Boeing 720 (N833NA) on Rogers Dry Lake to test fuel safety. Though the antimisting additive didn't fully prevent a post-crash fire, it helped by reducing the initial blaze, and thus influencing novel aircraft safety standards.
