I personally believe you cannot fully understand Saudi Arabia's 🇸🇦 statecraft without understanding 'Shahamah' (شهامة). I can't emphasize enough how important this term is to understanding the Saudi national psyche and the spirit shared by government and society. Shahamah is difficult to capture in a single English word. It combines nobility of character, honor, courage, generosity, dignity, keeping one's word, and standing by others in times of need. In the historic heartland of the Arab world and the cradle of Islam, Shahamah carries a deeper civilizational weight. It is not merely a social trait. It also helps explain the instinct behind Saudi policies: supporting allies, aiding countries in crisis, mediating disputes, honoring commitments, and carrying responsibility beyond narrow self interest. So if you truly want to understand Saudi Arabia, get accustomed to viewing it through the lens of Shahamah. Many things will start to make much more sense afterward. Salman Al-Ansari

So people don’t forget: the UAE 🇦🇪 -backed despicable RSF militia stormed the Saudi Hospital in El Fasher / Sudan 🇸🇩 and filmed the execution of 460 patients and unarmed civilians in cold blood. The last victim was an elderly man, killed where he sought care, not combat.

Abu Dhabi 🇦🇪 developed a paranoid narrative and convinced itself that Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman 🇸🇦 had asked President Trump 🇺🇸 to impose sanctions on the UAE over its support for genocide in Sudan / Al-Fashir. This never happened. They also assumed that Washington was unaware of Abu Dhabi’s conduct ahead of the Saudi visit. They evidently overlooked a congressional hearing last year when Secretary Marco Rubio stated explicitly: "The UAE is openly supporting an entity that is carrying out a genocide."
