In an interview with BBC News Bangla, a Jahangirnagar University professor tore apart the regime’s consistent move to hurriedly point fingers at #India for every single occurrence in #Bangladesh. Her assessment was based on a series of similar promptly traded blames by the regime targeting India. According to her, the regime seeks to hide its own failures, referring to anti-India rants over the recent attack on an activist who seeks to fight in the polls. The statement came amid reports that in 15 months, the regime released over 50 top crime lords, hundreds of convicted militants from jail, and granted a blanket indemnity for perpetrators who looted arms from hundreds of police stations. ![Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has called for patience until a final verdict on government job quotas is delivered as deadly violence in protest against the system convulses the country. In a televised address to the nation on Wednesday evening, she announced a judicial investigation into the incidents of violence during the protests. “I believe they [victims] will get justice, and won’t be frustrated,” she said. Hasina said the incidents surrounding the quota protest were “painful”. The government adopted a tolerant approach from the outset of the protest, while police assisted the protesters in holding demonstrations. “But it is a matter of regret that some quarters took advantage of the movement to fulfil their unacceptable ambitions through terrorist activities”, the prime minister said. “The events that have happened as a result of this are deeply distressing. Several priceless lives have been lost. No one understands the agony of losing loved ones more than I do,” she said, referring to the Aug 15 massacre of #Bangabandhu #SheikhMujiburRahman’s family. She offered prayers for the victims of the #violence and expressed her condolences to their families. “I condemn all the killings. The incidents that have happened are never desired,” Sheikh Hasina said. The prime minister criticised the violent attacks on pro-government students. “Terrorists threw students from a multi-storey building with the intention to kill. Many students’ tendons were cut off. They were hit with sticks and sharp weapons. One person has died and many others are fighting for their lives,” she said. University buildings in Dhaka, Rangpur, and Rajshahi were vandalised and torched, while the protesters also attacked innocent passers-by, shopkeepers, and blocked ambulances carrying patients. “I believe the quota reform protesters do not have links to these terrorists who have created anarchy using the movement.” The prime minister said those involved in such incidents will be identified and brought to justice. She also promised jobs and other sorts of help for the families of those killed in the violence. “I declare unequivocally that action will be taken to ensure that those who have committed murder, looting, and terrorist activities - whoever they are - will be punished. “I also declare that a judicial investigation will be conducted in the interest of fairness and justice in all the unintended incidents, including the murders,” the prime minister announced. She also said an investigation will be conducted to determine who instigated the conflict and the reasons behind pushing the country into a state of anarchy. "I am deeply worried about the safety of the innocent students who are protesting. There is a risk that these terrorists might retaliate at any moment, creating a volatile atmosphere. “Therefore, I appeal to the parents and teachers of these students to remain vigilant about their children's safety. How fascist Yunus supporters restaged August 5 style violence to wipe out symbols of national identity ——- The latest spell of attack to demolish Dhanmondi 32 residence and bringing of crane is an affront to national identity and a bid to erase collective history centering the liberation war that saw Pakistan forces and their local collaborators Jamaat e Islami defeated despite committing crimes against humanity resulting in birth of Bangladesh. The repeated attack is the direct outcome of a notorious indemnity provided by Yunus regime to those involved in violence and killing till August 10 against dissenters of the regime. This series of attacks on the residence is a step towards reinforcing the Pakistan’s narrative on liberation war and brings echoes of rise of pro war criminal backed forces in power as the residence was targeted whenever Jamaat backed forces ruled the country. How a female student league activist attacked by BNP’s student front leaders in exam hall - Police and army obliged attackers and attacked student unlawfully detained Like other students in her batch, Piya also went to attend academic exam in Rajshahi Mohila college. But only for her affiliation with student league, a group of activists from BNP’s student front entered the exam hall. In show of surrender to BNP’s student wing leaders, teachers allowed the cadres a free reign as they barred the student from giving exam, followed by assault. Even a group of army troops who came at the scene did not bring to justice the attackers and stop the glaring rights abuses. Rather in defence of attackers, troops handed the affected girl to police. Even in presence of cops the student was assaulted and later unlawfully detained.
