Passed through #UniteTheKingdom as it’s on my way to the spa… A Bob Marley song is currently playing. The vibe is actually similar to the Notting Hill Carnival, just British instead of Afro-Caribbean. I smell weed, see some dilated pupils, lots of booze, cheerful singing and chants of “Keir Starmer’s a wanker” Mostly white, some black and brown faces. Not threatening at all at present. Hope it stays this way…

If a terrorist attack on Muslims had taken place inside a mosque during Eid, would Jews and pro-Israel supporters have marched in the streets? Yet yesterday, after a terrorist attack against British Jews, we saw the pro-Palestine brigade calling to “globalise the intifada” and chanting “from the river to the sea, Palestine will be free.” I say this as someone who is broadly pro-Palestine, a believer in a two-state solution, and someone who has been deeply critical of Israel’s response to October 7th. 🇬🇧 As a mixed-race Briton, I’ve felt increasingly depressed watching what’s happening to our country. I don’t recognise it anymore. Citizens turning against citizens. Reactions to horrific crimes differing depending on who committed them. Innocent people being targeted because they share the same skin colour, ethnicity or faith as a criminal. I don’t feel like the country has the backs of Jewish Brits in theirs. Where are the brands calling out antisemitism? The celebrities? The anti-antisemitism protests? Decided to mix things up today and went to my local church for the first time since I was a kid.
