From Tommy Paul’s #AusOpen press conference — how does it feel playing Carlos Alcaraz right now? Tommy: “He totally outplayed me. The way I would describe it is… he kind of suffocates you in a way. He makes you feel like you have no time. He rushes you. “Today, he exposed me. I hit my forehand terribly today and he saw that early. He was trying to get into that forehand-to-forehand rally and he did it much better than I did. That’s what it felt like — he got all the patterns he wanted and I was having a tough time getting into the patterns that I wanted.” (via #AusOpen YT channel — full interview uploaded there)

During his #MiamiOpen press conference, Carlos Alcaraz was asked why he often lets his opponent go first on changeovers. 👇 ❔ “Hey Carlos, great win. I’ve noticed before you change ends on the changeover, you usually wait a little bit and then let your opponent cross. Is that something you’ve always grown up doing? Were you taught to do that?” 🇪🇸: “Sorry, say again. What?” ❔ “Before the changeover, when you change sides, you usually wait a little bit and let the opponent go first. Is that something you’ve always been taught to do and grown up doing?” 🇪🇸 “Well, not really, to be honest. I don’t think about it. I don’t know. It’s just being kind, I guess, just letting him go first. I just do it on court. I do it off the court as well, with everyone, trying to let people go first everywhere I go. “So it’s just being kind, and that’s it. It’s not something that I think about, to be honest.” 🎩 ✨🇪🇸 [🎥 TennisLegends YouTube]

🎙️Roger Federer: “Carlos, when I see him, I feel like there's more similarities in terms of what we would do, in terms of when we would hit a drop shot, when we would come to the net, how offensive, how passive do we decide to play, because I think we like to play on our terms. So I put myself more into Carlos's mindset and skin.” 🇨🇭🇪🇸👑🔥 #AusOpen #AO26

Lately, it's become a trend to talk about Carlos as if he only started learning to play tennis well (for some, even to be educated) at 15. As if one coach is the only responsible for his success and for who he is in every aspect. Meanwhile, this was Carlos at age 10 in Murcia. One can acknowledge the work of a coach and give him credit without diminishing the player, who is the one holding the racket and coming back in historic 5: 30 hours finals, as if he didn't exist or have anything to do with his own success or who he is. A world number one, the youngest in history, isn't solely the work of a coach. Is also the work of his family, all his team and people, but above all, it's HIS OWN WORK, his talent, his commitment to his dream, and his constant sacrifice since childhood. Even if every now and then he has the audacity to need to rest for a few days with his friends or family.

🗣️ Cobolli talking about what it's like to train with Alcaraz: "2 hours of training with him feel like 20 minutes. When you train with any other player, it feels like 2 hours...And he's obviously giving me a lot of important advice, and even if he doesn't tell me,I learn" 🏇🫶
