Chargers HC Jim Harbaugh confirms Justin Herbert is at practice today. "I was happy he went to support Madison [Beer] on her music tour. Madison supports him at the football games. He told me he wasn't gonna be here for those two weeks and my first reaction was, 'do you need a ride to the airport?'" "He's just been somebody that is just here all the time. There's times I've wanted to shoo him out of the building. He's at every voluntary, every non-voluntary workout. Same guy that broke his hand and he was here the next day practicing. The next game, stiff arming guys. Yeah, I was happy. Good balance."

Chargers TE Charlie Kolar: "There's something so beautiful about you're up by six points, it's like 3rd and 3-you know you're running it. There's two minutes left in the game, they have no timeouts. You get a first down, the game's over." "They know you're running it. Your wife knows you're running it. Their wife knows you're running it. You still run it. That is more satisfying than any touchdown I've ever had. That's one thing I've grown to appreciate in the NFL."

Chargers OC Mike McDaniel on building an offense for Justin Herbert: "When I got here, my first task that I bestowed upon myself is I watched every pass play that he's ever had in the National Football League." "His expectations are the highest for himself...I'd say that we're looking to master and be elite at everything we do. And being able to own the position in a new way, for him to own the position in a way he never has." "For it to be obvious to everyone around that he's playing the best football of his career."

Chargers LT Rashawn Slater on OC Mike McDaniel's outside zone scheme: "I just think outside zone's fun. Honestly if you're an offensive lineman, the rules are to just get off and go destroy everything in your path." "If that doesn't sound fun, you might not be a lineman."

Jags TE Patrick Herbert on playing against his brother Justin Herbert: "It's awesome. I think we kinda take it for granted sometimes looking at him and being like, 'oh he's been in the league for 5-6 years' or whatever. I think it's a big accomplishment. That's so cool."

Chargers QB Justin Herbert on having HC Jim Harbaugh's support for his trip to Europe with Madison Beer: "He's the man. To have his support, that's why everyone supports him. He's done such a great job with all his teammates, all the players that he coaches. That's why everyone loves him." Herbert said Europe was fun and that he appeciated the buildings in France. "It was just different. It was just cool to see. Definitely something you dont see very often over here. It was just cool to see different experiences."

Chargers C Tyler Biadiasz on OC Mike McDaniel: "He's got it. I remember when we watched film together at my visit. We watched my film and then obviously putting it in perspective of the scheme, the offensive system that they were bringing to LA from Miami. And then we watched Justin Herbert, and we watched his abilities and everything like that." "The first offensive meeting-All of us O-Linemen we walked out of that meeting-he put like a tape together and he kinda talked through each and every thing. We walked out of that meeting, we were excited, like we were all excited."

Chargers DL coach Mike Elston says HC Jim Harbaugh did ask him about his interest in the DC job after Jesse Minter left: "I was very candid with him that at this point in my career, I really just want to continue to focus on how I can be better as a defensive line coach."

Chargers OC Mike McDaniel on taking responsibility off of Justin Herbert's plate: "There's a lot of incredible plays Justin has made. He's firmly capable and sometimes as a coach you can rely upon that a little too much." "There's schematic ways to get completions that maybe all three quarterbacks on your roster would be capable of doing...It can be taxing over time for a player to necessitate an incredible play too often to be able to score points and win football games." "So you try to take it off of him by creating some low cost, high reward offense that he's firmly capable of doing but maybe a player of lesser talent would be capable of doing as well."

Jim Harbaugh on cold weather in KC on Sunday: "Your body is like a human hot tub." He says the coldest game he ever played in was the -50 deg. wind chill 1989 NFC title game in Chicago: "Wind chill factor. You guys from California don't know anything about wind chill factor."

HC Jim Harbaugh on his father's advice for when to retire: "You coach as long as you possibly can until you cannot do one more script, you can't walk out on the field for one more practice or do one more gameplan-that's when you know you should coach for two more years."

Chargers EDGE Akheem Mesidor on developing his pass rush bag: "I used to rely a lot on a chop, like a chop dip rip, but then I started facing O-Linemen who are double punchers that punched pretty high. It's hard to chop a high hand, so I kind of transitioned to using a side scissor. And just trying different things out. I spend a lot of time at the facility alone trying to learn my body, my steps, how long it takes me to get to the fight line where I make a move on a tackle. Rush angles, width and how far I am from wherever I'm rushing. So I've done a ton of different stuff alone where I practice what moves I want to use. But my bag has gotten better throughout the years to where I can use a bunch of different moves." "I take stuff from everybody. Like Rueben [Bain] is younger than me, but when he came in as a freshman I was a true senior. I took stuff from Rueben. Like if I see it and I see that it works and I like it, I'll put it into my game. The way I run a t game on one of our stunts where the tackle penetrates and the D-End sells speed and loops behind, I've seen one of our D Tackles penetrate a certain way where he was attacking the tackle rather than the guard. The way he was using his hands. And it worked. I see it work, I told myself 'I like that', so I stole that and put it into my game. So I'm stealing everybody else's moves and putting it into mine, making it mine I guess."

Chargers HC Jim Harbaugh on playing in cold Foxborough weather: “These guys are young, they’re healthy, and their heart pumps warm blood. It pumps it from the arteries to the veins to the tributaries to the capillaries. Throughout their whole body. You just play ball.” “Now I might’ve gotten that in the wrong order there-as well documented, I’m not a doctor.”

Justin Herbert's full answer and support of Quentin Johnston: "I think that's the tough part about the NFL. He's a playmaker. He's done an incredible job all year. You never want to see that. Just like when I throw an interception or when I miss a throw, he's gonna come up to me and tell me, 'hey, it's the next play'. And that's the way it is. Everyone in that locker room is professionals. Q will do a great job. I can give him better placement, better balls. It's on all of us. It's not just on him, it's on me for the way I gotta deliver the ball. I gotta make sure we're all on the same page. He's an incredible player and I'm gonna keep throwing him the ball." "He's a fighter. You trust him. And I'm gonna keep throwing him the ball. That's what we did out there. Unfortunately, it didn't go our way tonight. But I know he's gonna be the first one in the building and he's gonna do everything the right way. He's a truly great teammate, great guy. And he's gonna go make some plays. He's got a lot of good football left in front of him."
