If these are Khalil Mack's last weeks as a Charger, I will remember him very fondly for the 5 years he's given us🫡 I'm sorry they failed you.

I'm not gonna pretend it's been a perfect year for Hampton on tape, but it feels like they've overcorrected for his mistakes in the first two games. Get Mitchell and Vidal on the field too, but Hampton can't leave games with under 10 carries.

Some Jake Slaughter thoughts: better than I expected in pass pro at LG. In PFF's preliminary charting, just 1 pressure allowed vs. HOU. Some adjustments to be made in the run game + pad level. But it was a good outing for his first experience at G.

Chargers LT Joe Alt on adjusting in the offensive line room after Rashawn Slater's injury: "I think that's just kind of a given in an offensive line room. We're brothers. We have someone go down, the goal is to play as well as five as one. And that's only way we can do it. And that's by moving forward and playing the best we can. You know, do what he would want us to do."

Jags TE Patrick Herbert on playing against his brother Justin Herbert: "It's awesome. I think we kinda take it for granted sometimes looking at him and being like, 'oh he's been in the league for 5-6 years' or whatever. I think it's a big accomplishment. That's so cool."

Chargers TE Charlie Kolar: "There's something so beautiful about you're up by six points, it's like 3rd and 3-you know you're running it. There's two minutes left in the game, they have no timeouts. You get a first down, the game's over." "They know you're running it. Your wife knows you're running it. Their wife knows you're running it. You still run it. That is more satisfying than any touchdown I've ever had. That's one thing I've grown to appreciate in the NFL."

Chargers OC Mike McDaniel on building an offense for Justin Herbert: "When I got here, my first task that I bestowed upon myself is I watched every pass play that he's ever had in the National Football League." "His expectations are the highest for himself...I'd say that we're looking to master and be elite at everything we do. And being able to own the position in a new way, for him to own the position in a way he never has." "For it to be obvious to everyone around that he's playing the best football of his career."

Chargers HC Jim Harbaugh confirms Justin Herbert is at practice today. "I was happy he went to support Madison [Beer] on her music tour. Madison supports him at the football games. He told me he wasn't gonna be here for those two weeks and my first reaction was, 'do you need a ride to the airport?'" "He's just been somebody that is just here all the time. There's times I've wanted to shoo him out of the building. He's at every voluntary, every non-voluntary workout. Same guy that broke his hand and he was here the next day practicing. The next game, stiff arming guys. Yeah, I was happy. Good balance."

Chargers OC Mike McDaniel on taking responsibility off of Justin Herbert's plate: "There's a lot of incredible plays Justin has made. He's firmly capable and sometimes as a coach you can rely upon that a little too much." "There's schematic ways to get completions that maybe all three quarterbacks on your roster would be capable of doing...It can be taxing over time for a player to necessitate an incredible play too often to be able to score points and win football games." "So you try to take it off of him by creating some low cost, high reward offense that he's firmly capable of doing but maybe a player of lesser talent would be capable of doing as well."

I think criticism of Justin Herbert is fair yesterday. simply can't throw a shot to 5'8" Derius Davis in double coverage down 9 with 10 minutes left. Sure, bad play to draw up in the first place-but it's about avoiding negative plays when you're down multiple possessions.

It pumps it from the arteries to the veins to the tributaries to the capillaries. Throughout their whole body. You just play ball.” “Now I might’ve gotten that in the wrong order there-as well documented, I’m not a doctor.”

Justin Herbert's full answer and support of Quentin Johnston: "I think that's the tough part about the NFL. He's a playmaker. He's done an incredible job all year. You never want to see that. Just like when I throw an interception or when I miss a throw, he's gonna come up to me and tell me, 'hey, it's the next play'. And that's the way it is. Everyone in that locker room is professionals. Q will do a great job. I can give him better placement, better balls. It's on all of us. It's not just on him, it's on me for the way I gotta deliver the ball. I gotta make sure we're all on the same page. He's an incredible player and I'm gonna keep throwing him the ball." "He's a fighter. You trust him. And I'm gonna keep throwing him the ball. That's what we did out there. Unfortunately, it didn't go our way tonight. But I know he's gonna be the first one in the building and he's gonna do everything the right way. He's a truly great teammate, great guy. And he's gonna go make some plays. He's got a lot of good football left in front of him."
