Today, I stood up for the voiceless! I moved a motion before the Honorable House of Representatives, urging the government to reduce petroleum prices and cushion the hike in market prices, particularly for the poor. This crucial bill, signed by over 111 members, demonstrates our collective commitment to alleviating the economic burden on our citizens. As we're aware, the recent fuel subsidy removal has led to increased prices of consumer goods and services, affecting vulnerable households. It's imperative that we prioritize social safety nets and protective measures to minimize the negative impacts. Our call to action includes: • Immediate Reduction of petroleum prices to alleviate economic pressure • Cushioning Measures to protect low-income households from price hikes • People-Friendly Policies to promote economic growth and social welfare In the words of the President, he said “ Let the poor breath” We therefore urge the Executive to consider implementing these measures, ensuring a fair transition for all Nigerians.
