Whoever shot this 17 minute video showing a drive through Pacific Palisades one month ago had no idea how historic it would become. If you’re not from Los Angeles, this might give you a better idea of what we’ve lost. Please keep in mind this is just ONE street. This doesn’t include the entire Pacific Coast Highway, most of Altadena, and an additional 18 miles of Pacific Palisades. 💔💔💔

This is what the Oscars looked like in 1979 when Johnny Carson was hosting. This was also the first time an Oscar producer ever won an Emmy for producing the Academy Awards. Jack Haley Jr. certainly deserved it. This was also the year of Meryl Streep’s first nomination.

Astonishing colorized footage of Sunset Blvd in 1952. Starting out at La Brea, we see Tiny Naylors on the N.W. corner. We pass a Ralph’s, a Safeway, & several spirit stores & gas stations. On the Oriental Theatre marquee we see SINGING IN THE RAIN has just hit theaters. We end at Stanley Blvd & Sunset. You can see the Samuel French Bookshop on the corner. It was there 70 years until it closed in 2019.

In honor of William Friedkin… In 1973, THE EXORCIST had the longest running engagement at the Mann National Theater in Westwood. This historic footage shows audience members reacting to the film. The subject matter truly rattled people to their core. What an astonishing accomplishment for a director.

Hollywood in the 1980s. Notice ads & signage for Greyhound, Pic & Save, KIIS FM & Angelyne. This was a great time in L.A. No computers. No cell phones. CDs were just on the horizon, so all you had was your car radio and a tape deck. And we all got along just fine with what we had

This is exceptional footage from a 1973 Universal Studios Tram tour. I love every single name and every television show & movie she mentions. Today you would never hear those names on a current tour. Plus she has a total Kate Jackson vibe going on.

Just heard Astrud Gilberto passed away. I’ve always found her to be one of the most unique voices of all time. THE GIRL FROM IMPANEMA was the first song she ever recorded (with Stan Getz) and it played a key role in making the Brazilian sound a phenomenon in the United States and introduced millions of listeners to the wonders of Bossa Nova. ❤️🎶
