Chances of Edwin Sifuna Becoming President: He has 2 advantages: - Support from all tribes; - No significant enemy. However, chance of him becoming president in 2027 is slim. I will explain. He is currently the most talked about politician in Kenya. That cannot happen unless a lot of people consider him to be a serious contender for presidency. Sifuna's Biggest Problems (a) In Nairobi, his no.1 adversary is part of Linda Mwananchi - Babu Owino, with his The Mwananchi Party, TMP. If Babu's TMP can challenge Sifuna's LMM in Nairobi - where he is Senator - what about in other places like Nyanza? That is, even before thinking about how to defeat Ruto's UDA, his very own 'ally' has already WEAKENED him. But for whatever reason, Sifuna has not publicly distanced himself from Owino. Ruto's campaign team would use this fact to label Sifuna a puppet, 'who even if you elect him president, will be depending on MPs controlled by others'. How many people would go out to vote for a puppet president? (b) He is under extreme pressure from close advisors to 'work with Gachagua's DCP'. Those pushing him in this direction claim that, 'politics is about numbers & Gachagua has numbers'. However, these advisers do not explain to him: '2 years ago, Gachagua was in government & these people he now allegedly controls had already stopped supporting the govt (re: June/July 2024 events) - how then can it be claimed that without allying with him, these people cannot vote for you?' Who benefits if Sifuna forms coalition with Gachagua? Ruto. How Sifuna Could Easily Win Presidency - But People Close to Him Won't Let Him Use this Strategy Campaign on a platform of fighting corruption - Zero Tolerance to Corruption. Because Zero Tolerance to Corruption means efficient services to wananchi: Good health services, well-funded education & many jobs created. He states publicly he cannot work with Tainted Politicians like Babu Owino, Rigathi Gachagua etc. That is a guaranteed way to rally the people behind him. Voters would love that. And Sifuna has advantage that no tribe sees him as an enemy. It would be all tribes voting for their interests. He would win presidency by huge margin, in 1st round - unless massive rigging happens. Why Doing Politics as Usual Reduces Sifuna's Chances of Winning Presidency to almost Zero If you have people tainted by corruption and criminal activity in your political coalition, then you cannot campaign on a platform of 'I will form a corrupt-free government if you elect me', even if you personally is not tainted. It just cannot work. There will be people who would have voted for Sifuna - but won't - if he forms coalition with Gachagua. Politics-as-Usual favours the incumbent William Ruto.

Hassan Joho ruled Mombasa county with an iron fist when he was the governor. In 2018, he threatened the president of the republic of Kenya, while addressing his supporters at a pubic rally. The crowd was shocked. Undeterred, he concluded, "Yeye ni mtu mdogo sana kwangu" (He (the president) is a nobody to me). Local government officials wondered aloud, "Where does this man (Joho) get his power?" Joho is a billionaire, but his source of wealth is a mystery. He has been the main financier of their political party, from its inception. Probably the reason why he was named the deputy party leader. In Mombasa he was nicknamed The Sultan, for ruling the county like a king. In the video below, Mombasa security chief accuses Joho of storming a police station to free a man found with multiple illegal rifles. This is the man Ruto has nominated to become the cabinet secretary for mining. Kenya is going down the drain.
