Steve Waugh 🗣️: People always say to me, "What's the secret to success?" and it's always the same answer: hard work. You look at Shane Warne, one of the greatest bowlers of all time. He worked harder than anyone else on his bowling. He was always analyzing it, practicing it. And I remember one story: Carl Hooper took him apart in a test match in Barbados on the first day of the series, turning wicket. He was just randomly charging him and putting him over cover and mid-wicket. We thought that was really strange, like, "How did you do that?" So, Warne went home that night and got the tapes of the day's play and went through them. And when Carl Hooper was tapping his bat in his normal stance, he was going to play like a conservative normal shot, either forward or back. But there was other occasions where he didn't tap his bat and his bat was up in the air, and that was the balls he was going to charge. So, the next day, as soon as he saw no tapping, he threw it out wide and stumped him. So that's an example of, you know, someone looking for that 1 or 2 percent difference that makes him a great player.
