The Israeli cabinet statement as captured in Israel Katz’s social media posts claiming to treat balloons and kites flown in the Gaza Strip as military drones further strips away any prospects for moments of joy for children in Gaza, who have been denied a childhood by Israel’s ongoing genocide. Third states must act and end Israel’s genocide. No more impunity for Israel’s disregard for international law.

This mass funeral was held for 112 members of the Al-Hasayna and Abu Sharia families in Gaza City, killed in an Israeli strike on 23 November 2023. That strike reportedly killed over 300 Palestinians. This is a chilling illustration of a pattern of Israeli attacks wiping out entire multi-generational families. It has taken so long for rescue teams to dig up the remains due to restrictions imposed by Israel on the entry of equipment required to remove the rubble of destroyed buildings, under which thousands of bodies remain trapped. Israeli authorities must urgently allow UN bodies and human rights investigators to access Gaza to preserve evidence, as ordered by the International Court of Justice.

Over a month after Indian police deployed unlawful and deadly force against peaceful protesters at the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP)-led "Chalo Sansad" march, not a single officer in Delhi has been held accountable. On X, the Delhi Police publicly denied any disproportionate use of force, repeating it before India’s Supreme Court, describing its handling of the protest as “professional”. Evidence gathered by Amnesty International directly contradicts this account. We call on Indian authorities to order a prompt, impartial and effective investigation into the use of firearms, birdshot ammunition, tear gas, lathis and electric shock weapons against protesters in Delhi and Siwan, and to publish its findings.

Rescue efforts are still ongoing in Nepal, with a death toll of over 1,000 people and roughly 4,000 missing, according to UNOCHA. The country may need $4-5 billion to rebuild now - nearly 10% of its annual GDP. Fossil fuel companies should pay to support the people and communities harmed by human-induced climate change, such as global warming and subsequent floods, which are caused by the burning of fossil fuels such as coal, oil and gas. Wildfires raging across Europe and Canada. Heat domes baking the US. Temperatures reaching 50°C in Tunisia. Extreme heat across the globe is being exacerbated by the continued burning of fossil fuels and authoritarian tactics that attack climate science, restrict protest and spread climate disinformation. Heatwaves can kill directly, and they also fuel wildfires, worsen air pollution, dry out land and disrupt rainfall patterns. This deepens drought in some places and makes floods more dangerous elsewhere. Governments must act now to protect people from the dire and worsening effects of the climate crisis. Big fossil fuel polluters must be held accountable and pay for their role in causing extreme heat and other climate harms.

Russia’s drone and missile strikes on Dnipro, Ukraine are the latest in a series of attacks on the country amid Russia's ongoing war of aggression. The strikes, which happened earlier today, injured at least 18 people. Among them were children. The attacks hit civilian buildings and set them alight, causing firefighters to attend the scene. Last week, Russia carried out one of its largest aerial attacks yet on Ukraine, involving over 1,500 long-range drones and missiles. In Kyiv alone, one Russian strike on a residential building killed at least 24 people including children, as rescuers cleared the rubble. Across the city, dozens of civilians were injured and residential buildings were damaged. Earlier that day, other Ukrainian cities, including Rivne and Ivano-Frankivsk, were also under attack, with civilians killed and injured there as well. A UN vehicle carrying aid to Ukraine’s southern city of Kherson was also struck last week, followed by another hit while the delivery was underway. Amnesty International has documented numerous war crimes and other crimes under international law committed by Russian forces since the beginning of its war of aggression against Ukraine. This includes deliberate attacks on civilians and civilian infrastructure. These are crimes under international law. Russia’s aggression must be stopped, and civilians in Ukraine must be protected.

Israel continues to destroy civilian infrastructure as shown in this video, which captures the Israeli army destroying solar panels in southern Lebanon. Amnesty International has previously documented extensive destruction by the Israeli military along Lebanon’s border before and after the November 2024 ceasefire. We called for reparations and the investigation into this for war crimes. So far, neither has appeared. Since the more recent 2026 “ceasefire”, civilians in southern Lebanon’s border villages, many of whom are displaced, are continuing to witness their homes, land and infrastructure destroyed. Israel must stop the unlawful destruction of civilian property across southern Lebanon.
