This was Lyon last week. Packed end well before kick-off. Noise throughout. Got right behind their team. And they’ll do the same tonight because they, too, are set on Bilbao. From St Etienne to Marseille or PSG, French clubs have been among the loudest at Old Trafford.

Heading from Manchester to Leicester by train, past Old Trafford. Mum: “Come on Yoo-night-tid. Say hello to anyone at Leicester who I know.” Me: “So you want me to go up to anyone you know in Leicester and say hello from you.” Mum: “yeah that’s what say when you’re my age.”
