A great drill to ensure your lineman are not getting too tight that they lose the mobility in their hips/ groin to get to the positions needed to play with great leverage. They should be able to snap their foot to the outside of their hands & get their whole foot in the ground.

Staying square is king in pass pro.

About as good as it gets right here. Putting multiple drills together in one with @Mark_Johnson63 with just the right dose of realistic conditioning. He is flawless here. EWU Football 🏈 is getting a GREAT ONE in Mark. #olinepride

Working hand placement and replacement depending on changing surface areas. Always finish with a bull rush to ensure their anchor. The best drills require no gadgets, no silly toys, just people.

We do full team blocking sessions every single practice. Year round. Hope you are too.

This is our “ chaos” drill. We put the whole team through it weekly. Blocker has eyes closed. Defender does all he can to “shuck” the blocker. Blocker learns to drive force THROUGH pressure. Always lifting. Always driving their center of gravity THROUGH theirs.

Simple yet extremely effective. Non contact mirror dodge drill. One of the biggest training focuses in this drill for us is their eyes. We give our lineman a specific visual target ( position 1,2, or 3) on the defender. His reactionary movement is based on that target moving.

Why we need high school football. I challenge anyone to name another team sport that has 88 starting positions. 88 different opportunities for young players to matter and to know that they matter. #football

Tight low to high hands win in run blocking. Especially at center. #oline

Breaking down our center line training drill. #oline

Oline. Unique group of athletes.

Why we do Stomps. Trains the player to move low by lifting at the knee not by rising the hips. No chute ( or any equipment) required.

What great coaching is really all about. And we know this. Why don’t we do more learning on this instead of never ending technique and scheme conferences??

Teaching “pop it” step or contact step force and drive. Teaching how to drive through that contact step to instead of simply putting your feet up and down. Driving THROUGH while keeping tires and arms rigid while lifting low to high.

Our youth don't need another pep talk, they need direction, belief and truth. That's why I wrote Teenager. It's a story to help them find their way and remind us how we can help. Available now. #BookLaunch #FindYourWay #InspirationDaily #TeenagerBook

Breaking down the how and the why of our daily STOMP drill. #oline #football

We skip - arc - to overtake - everything. Switched to it 15 years ago. Find we are way faster getting there. And way more square allowing us to marshal our force vertically through the defender rather than sideways.

3 ideas to improve run blocking for a high school offensive lineman playing out of a 2 point stance.

Most of the philosophy behind why we use the STOMP drill.

When do you come off a double team to the linebacker? 👇
