Middle powers have an important role to play in shaping the international order. By working together where our interests converge, we can exercise greater influence and find solutions to challenges that extend beyond national borders. At the Bloomberg New Economy Forum in New Delhi, I spoke about Canada's approach to diplomacy in a changing world. Our strength lies in the trust we build over time and our ability to bring countries together — particularly when international cooperation is under increasing strain.

We discussed the Canada–Italy relationship and ways to strengthen cooperation for the benefit of both our economies and people, building on the Italy–Canada Roadmap for Enhanced Cooperation launched in June 2024. With this visit, I will have travelled to all G7 countries since assuming my role as Minister of Foreign Affairs. I also brought him some #TeamCanada Olympic gear. 🇨🇦🇮🇹
