Mark Vientos is having a tough game at first base. In addition to being unable to corral a Nolan McLean pickoff throw in the first inning, resulting in an unearned run, Vientos was eaten up by this ball in the fifth.

Another mistake from Francisco Lindor, whose decision not to charge this ball allowed Teoscar Hernandez to hustle down the line with an infield hit. The Dodgers are now rallying in the eighth.

About a month shy of the trade deadline, Freddy Peralta is getting lit up again. Peralta has allowed five earned runs to the Blue Jays in less than three innings today. His ERA is back up to 4.88, which is fifth-worst among qualified Major League pitchers.

Another day, same Mets. Juan Soto and A.J. Ewing just turned this routine George Springer base hit into a Little League home run.

Well isn't this a fitting way for the first half to end. Devin Williams just blew his second consecutive save for the Mets, spoiling Zach Thornton's much-deserved first career victory. Francisco Lindor also played a role with a fielding error on a play that could have ended it.

Kodai Senga looked dominant in the first inning tonight, hitting 99 mph and striking out a pair. In the second inning, Senga walked two batters (including one with the bases loaded), hit another and allowed five runs. He was subsequently booed off the mound.

This Mets-Nationals game is BONKERS, and it's only the second inning. James Wood just hit an inside-the-park grand slam off Nick Morabito's glove. Can't say I've ever seen that one before.

Here's something you don't see every day in Major League Baseball: three throwing errors on a single play!

A.J. Ewing has reached base safely in six consecutive plate appearances. Two of those have been home runs.

Not to pile on at a difficult time, but this is not what run prevention is supposed to look like.

The Mets do still have Juan Soto, and that's important. He hits a go-ahead homer in the seventh to change the tenor of this game.
