New Kurzgesagt video, more doomerism:

Putting AI water use in context

On Instagram they think AI servers are literally submerged in water. These people vote.

Choose optimism

When people see visualizations of satellites in orbit they get scared because it looks crowded. So here is a visualization of what it looks like with accurate satellite sizes:

A single 93km solar array in orbit would generate as much electricity as every country on earth combined. The future of industry is in orbit.

This is a lie. SpaceX has received almost no grant money and subsidies in its history. And the government contracts it got were won through competitive bidding, meaning they were cheaper than the competition. So SpaceX has actually helped the US government *save* money.

With a single solar array ~100km wide in space we could generate as much power as the whole of humanity combined currently uses. (barely visible when you zoom out) 99% of long term future energy growth will be space solar.

The brainwashing has been so strong that many people still believe SpaceX doesn’t produce anything. Meet Starlink: a highly profitable and fast growing internet mega constellation that quickly grew to 2/3rd of all satellites in orbit. SpaceX built that, amongst other things

Every AI datacenter on earth combined could be powered by a single 11km by 11km solar array in orbit. That’s ~20x less solar than what was installed on earth in 2025 alone. Space solar is efficient

Biblically accurate angel

8 billion people and still a lot to create. It’s crazy to me that I’m the first space enthousiaste to build a website to create customizable rocket launch infographics. People made posters, people built launch data APIs, but no one took the time to combine both.

Today feels like a good day to reshare this clip of Ariane Aerospace’s CEO calling SpaceX’s reusability plans “a dream”

AI dadacenters just don’t use that much water, there’s a panic over almost nothing. Here is a short animation to put AI water use in context:

Whoever is making these SpaceX edits has incredible taste

Exactly 10 years ago today SpaceX unveiled ITS, which would later evolve into Starship. Tomorrow Starship is set to go orbital for the first time.

I own a tiny portion of this

Building the largest and most profitable satellite mega constellation in history in only a few years counts as “under delivering” for Bloomberg

The “shitty Kessler-bait” in question: If you want to criticize SpaceX I’m not sure taking a jab at the (wildly profitable) largest mega constellation in history is the best way to go.

Fun fact: Russia launched so much into space during the Cold War that the US only overtook them in 2025. And without SpaceX Russia would still enjoy a massive lead. Here’s the evolution of the cumulative orbital payload capacity from 1957 to 2026:

Meet RocketLab’s newly acquired Iridium constellation:

I made a website visualizing every satellite in orbit, now and at every point in history

This is a lie. SpaceX has received almost no grant money and subsidies in its history. And the government contracts it got were won through competitive bidding, meaning they were cheaper than the competition. So SpaceX has actually helped the US government save money.
