Had a blast talking hitting (and a little bit of catching) with Samuel Basallo. The offensive improvements are clear and it was awesome to hear the adjustments broken down from the man himself.

I forgot how dirty Max Scherzer was done one pitch away from a perfect game. If this was done in the college world series I think Jose Tabata would have been banned for life

Fernando Tatis Jr. just struggled through the worst month of his career. He has yet to pull a fastball in the air. He tinkers as much as any hitter in the game, which we saw throughout a successful year in 2025. So what’s his best foot forward in 2026?

I think the most stark difference is 2021 vs 2026. As I detailed in the piece, ‘21 was the last time we saw him with consistently the same mechanics and those mechanics were his best. You can really see the difference in the lower half here and why he’s struggling to pull.

Edwin Arroyo's improvements from the left side have been so impressive this season. Simplified things in the box and the results have followed. Lower half working way better. Z-Con: 84%➡️90% Avg EV: 86.4➡️88.6 Hard Hit: 33%➡️40% LA: 3°➡️13° 1.091 OPS as LHH this season.

The Cubs brought Billy Hamilton in to be a potential pinch run option on the postseason squad. Safe to say the legs are still there. They've been pinch running him in Triple-A games to get the legs going again. 3 for 3 so far. Here's two of them on two straight pitches.

George Lombard Jr. is off to a ridiculous start to the season at Double-A, going 13 for 28 (.464) with 2 HR and 7 XBH already, but the most ridiculous stat may be in the swing decision department. Lombard has seen 65 pitches outside of the zone so far and has swung at just one.

Mike Sirota's uptick in power in his first pro season was ridiculous. Of the 135 balls in play I had access to in his last season at Northeastern, I could only find two batted balls above 105 MPH. In 59 games in 2025, Sirota produced 30 batted balls 105 MPH and above.

The swing adjustments are undeniable from Konnor Griffin and the fact that he made these changes before facing any adversity as a first round high school guy says a lot about the makeup. When a 6-foot-4 explosive athlete starts interacting with the ground properly…look out.

Some absurd Jacob Wilson stats. 1. He has swung at 234 pitches in the zone this season, making contact with 223 of them. 2. He has more games with 4 hits (7) than 0 hits (4) 3. He has more games with 4+ RBI (3) than 2 strikeouts (2) 4. He is hitting over .400 vs. all pitch types

This Deion Sanders swing against Eric Gagne was ridiculous. This was his first game back too in 2001. What a crazy talent he was.

A few Rays fans chant “overrated” just before Roman Anthony launches a 97 MPH Santiago Suarez fastball into the stratosphere. All three of the Red Sox top prospects have left the yard tonight and none of them were cheap.

Phillies OF prospect Gabriel Rincones sprinted through the finish line at Triple-A last year and could be an option at the big league level in '26. Last 40 games of '25: .293/.422/.586, 10 HR, 15.5 BB%, 19.7 K%. Hard Hit rate of 52% in that span with EV90 of 110.8 MPH (!!)

Shoutout Jake Mangum on an incredible second career MLB game. 4 for 4 with two hits from each side of the plate is ridiculous. He was probably deserving of a shot a while ago, but just kept grinding. Last two AAA seasons: .305/.351/.431 and he was set for another one in Durham.
