Intrigued by SpongeBob's unenthusiastic screaming and vocalizations from the earliest of early episodes, I guess it's a relic from when they hadn't quite decided on the range of his voice yet.

Love how SpongeBob actually calls her "medieval Sandy" and that she randomly turns into a picture of a real squirrel when defeated

Is "who put you on the planet" a reference to something? It feels so specific and random that it has to be lol

I've now learned that this is a reference to a public access show that used to run in LA, called Spirit of Truth. "Who put you on the planet?" and even the exact dance is in this clip from the show

When recording the part where the Dutchman eats them (from an alternate ending) the cast is told by Stephen Hillenburg to make the walla "lighter" and less like the characters are upset. The voice actors then start riffing as if they were being brutally digested.

This episode is one of my favorite performances from Clancy Brown and Mr. Lawrence as Krabs and Plankton. The whole episode is just pure interpersonal drama and I love it. Love this flavor of cartoon where the characters are taken kind of seriously but the drawings are still fun

This scene from the same episode is another example of this. This is almost 40 seconds without a single gag or joke!! But I was never bored watching it as a kid.

Fun Fact: Did you know that Bill Fagerbakke improved "leedle leedle lee" during the recording session of Shanghaied? The script called for a long scream. Here is an excerpt of the session, the session in whole is available on YouTube!

Everyone's celebrating 'SpongeBob Day,' but do you remember 'National No SpongeBob Day?'

On the "Square Shorts" DVD, every short is cut off early by about five seconds. In the original short, SpongeBob lifts his head and finishes saying "you're welcome" after being hit by the bus. However on the DVD, THIS is exactly how the short is shown.

I really love when Mr. Krabs goes berzerk, it's funny everytime they do it. Love that 'shattering head' take. What a weird idea!

This episode is turning 26 this year, but I still think it's the best of all the show's Halloween episodes

Did you know that the face in the hot sauce is Tom Kenny, the voice of SpongeBob? According to Tom, after they filmed this scene in the Nickelodeon Studios bathroom, he had to go somewhere else with his face still partially painted, as he couldn't get it all off.

I do love the vibe of this episode, maybe because of the weird synth whistling or the lack of music so you can actually hear the whistling. I can't imagine it being in any season other than 5

I love the colors in this graveyard scene, and how the flower clouds are all squiggly and misshapen

I love the opening scenes of SpongeBob episode where they get to do random nonsense in order to set up the plot before it really gets started. In the Krusty Krab just doing whatever lol

This was my first exposure to the story of "The Telltale Heart" as a kid. When I read it in class, my mind was blown.

The Patrick Show got a bad rap on premiere, but I actually find it super refreshing. At times, its writing feels much closer to the early seasons than the newer ones. Love this conversation between SB and Pat, can't remember a scene like this in the main show in ages.

A new episode came out yesterday that's about an alternate world where everyone's house is alive. SpongeBob's house is played by Wallace Shawn, and the main cast hardly appears at all. It's a neat idea!
