In 2009, Odisha was the first State to release the submergence tolerant Swarna-Sub1 rice variety (a significant discovery from STRASA project of IRRI 🌾, funded by the Gates Foundation). I was Director କୃଷି ବିଭାଗ, ଓଡ଼ିଶା then. As Principal Secretary of the Department a decade and half later, it was indeed wonderful to share the ‘Scuba Rice’ story to Bill Gates during his kind visit to my workplace.

For the Independence Day, Grammy award winner Ricky Kej conducted a 100 member British Orchestra at the legendary Abbey Road Studios in London, performing the Indian National Anthem. So proud to know that this is the largest Symphony Orchestra to ever record the National Anthem. Jai Hind. 🇮🇳
