The police claim he collapsed on boulevard Magenta, protesters carried him to the Château d’Eau emergency post, and he died at its doors in cardiorespiratory arrest before anyone treated him. Since then, videos spreading online show police beating a street medic, and many people say he is the same man who died. Israeli impunity and flagrant disregard of the rule of law leads to massive wildfires in Greece. Greek authorities arrested a 35-year-old Israeli tourist in Crete over the weekend, accusing him of sparking a wildfire that forced emergency evacuations, after he and a group of fellow Israelis lit a barbecue at their rental villa in defiance of an active fire ban. The fire broke out Friday evening near the village of Sellia, close to the resort town of Plakias in southern Rethymno. Greek fire investigators say it started in the yard of the villa where the tourists were staying. The villa’s owner had told them when they arrived that grilling was banned because of the fire risk. They lit the grill anyway.

🚨 The Washington Post’s Press Freedom Desk put out a video on the growing threats to press freedom. It includes a photo of me. It somehow finds no room for Israel, or the 250 journalists it has killed in Gaza. Committee to Protect Journalists’s own data shows why this is inexcusable: 2025 was the deadliest year for journalists on record, and Israel was responsible for two-thirds of all journalist deaths worldwide. CPJ has said Israel has now killed more journalists than any government since it began collecting data in 1992. So why did the Post leave it out?

Bosnian football fans have turned the 2026 World Cup into a rolling show of solidarity with Palestine. Across Toronto, Los Angeles, and Seattle, thousands marched to Bosnia and Herzegovina’s group-stage matches chanting “Palestina, Palestina” and waving Palestinian flags — connecting Gaza’s genocide to Bosnia’s own history of mass violence and survival. In Toronto, fans filled the streets before Bosnia faced Canada. In Los Angeles, supporters marched through Inglewood before the Switzerland match, raising a large “Sarajevo for Palestine” banner. On Wednesday in Seattle, the chants continued from the waterfront to Lumen Field ahead of Bosnia’s final Group B match against Qatar. Inside the stadium, “Palestina” echoed again as Bosnia celebrated its goals. Bosnia went on to beat Qatar 3–1, securing a place in the Round of 32 — with its fans making clear that, on the world’s biggest football stage, Palestine would not be silenced.
